2015 FORMULA ONE PETRONAS GRAND PRIX
A stream of exciting surprises await the unsuspecting tourist this year with the
all new MyFEST 2015 tourism campaign. Among the exciting line-up of events
and activities in store, Sepang is one area housing a series of occasions that
are not to be missed, primarily, the 2015 Formula 1 Petronas Malaysia Grand
Prix.
It’s hard to think of any other speed-filled adrenaline rush racing events that top
the legendary Formula One, so when Malaysia staked its hosting rights again
for the 2015 season, it is of no surprise that many racing enthusiasts have
already started congregating in Kuala Lumpur for the annual event. As a
powerful symbol of motoring excellence, Formula One racing travels across five
continents and draws global television audiences in the hundreds of millions.
Now, Malaysia will witness its 17th year of Formula One racing from 27 to 29
March 2015. Informally known as the F1 or GP race by locals, the Malaysian
leg of the FIA Formula One World Championship was first included in the 1999
F1 season. This year, the world’s top Formula One super stars will be featured
at the event, competing for the top ranking with ferocious tenacity, and
witnessed by hordes of racing fans from around the world, all arriving at Kuala
Lumpur, creating a buzz like only international sporting events can. At the same
time, Formula One is also well-renowned as a massive yet wholesome family
affair with exciting activities for you and your friends as well as for mom, dad

Racing fans from all walks of life unite at the exciting F1 Carnival, where
multiple activities are available for the adrenaline junkie. Crowds of
merchandise lovers are welcome to shop at the F1 Village. Friends and families
are also free to relax at the Cool Zone and to end the day with a bang, the event
will conclude with a fantastic performance by Lenny Kravitz at the After Race
Concert, who is regarded as one of the pre-eminent rock musicians of our time.
BUT WHY SEPANG?
Ever since the official opening of the state-of-the-art Sepang International
circuit on March 9 1999 by former Prime Minister Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad,
the venue was always meant for big and great things with a bright future ahead.
It was completed in a record 14 months and with the recognition of its
ultramodern facilities, it was given the honour to incorporate the F1 logo in its
name. So what exactly makes it unique as a sports and racing landmark?
Firstly, Sepang is well renowned for its convenience. The Sepang International
Circuit is located about 45 minutes away from KLIA. Visitors travelling from
downtown Kuala Lumpur can board shuttle buses at various pickup points such
as KL Sentral, Kuala Lumpur City Centre, and Mid Valley (RM4 to RM16), taxis
(approximately RM70) or limousines (approximately RM100) that head directly
to the Sepang Circuit during major racing events. Getting there by car is also
not a problem.
There are also a lot of amenities that cater to the huge number of fans that
gather in Sepang during the season. Those looking for a convenient base
during the event can opt for Sama-Sama Hotel KLIA or Concorde Inn Kuala
Lumpur International Airport. Situated just three minutes away from Kuala
Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), both accommodation options are just ten
minutes away from the Sepang International Circuit. Guests can also enjoy a
number of facilities such as fitness centre, sauna, and four restaurants at Sama-

Sama Hotel while Concorde Inn offers complimentary hourly shuttle service to
and from KLIA2 Airport.
The Sepang International Circuit has received worldwide acclaim not only for
its impressive pit garage facilities but its spacious grandstands with
comprehensive amenities. The circuit is a favourite among racers, with smooth
and sweeping corners, a few tight hairpins and a wide straight. Sepang boasts
spectacular architecture and a technically demanding layout.
Various exciting racing occasions take place without fail at this exceptional
circuit. The 66th FIA Formula One season kicked off in Albert Park, Australia
with the Australian GP on March 15 and will then move on to Malaysia where
the Malaysian GP will be held at the Sepang International Circuit. Following the
Malaysian Grand Prix race, the FIA Formula One moves on to Bahrain for the
Bahrain Grand Prix, followed by several countries including Germany, Italy, and
Singapore. The 66th FIA Formula One season wraps up with the Abu Dhabi
Grand Prix in UAE on 19 November 2015.
