As a proud Ontario native, it is a pleasure for me to be appearing with
Donnell Leahy and Family in the NAC’s Ontario Scene. One of our province’s
most exciting musical talents, Donnell Leahy’s music contains a variety of
influences, from Cape Breton to the British Isles, but his style is completely
his own. I remember my first encounter with Donnell and his family vividly,
as I had never before seen such a charming blend of fiddling, tapping and
storytelling. I’m looking forward to teaming up with Donnell and the NAC
Orchestra because he and his family always give the impression that
audience and orchestra have all been invited to his home for an impromptu
evening of lively music and dance.

de la province, Donnell Leahy – un violoniste qui se nourrit d’influences

pour créer un style bien à lui. Je me rappelle bien ma première rencontre
avec Donnell Leahy et les membres de sa famille – une joyeuse bande
pleine d’entrain. Je n’avais encore jamais vu un mélange aussi charmant de
violon, de danse et de conte. Il me tarde de partager la scène avec Donnell
et l’Orchestre du CNA. Entouré de membres du clan familial, Donnell donne
toujours au public l’impression qu’il est invité dans son salon pour une
soirée impromptue de musique et de danse.
