ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Electronics and Communication
Engineering Department was started in the year
1984. The department has qualified and
experienced faculty members, well-equipped
laboratories, computer centre and a library. Apart
from the UG course, it is currently offering PG
course on M.E. (Communication Systems) and M.E.
(Embedded System Technologies). The department
has been recognized as a RESEARCH CENTRE by
Anna University and has been Accreditated by NBA,
AICTE New Delhi. The department has signed
MOUs with M/s Tessolve Services (P) Limited,
Bangalore, Edgate technologies Bangalore and
Mistral Solutions Bangalore. The faculty members
are actively engaged in research activities in the
areas like Wireless Communication, Network
Security, Signal Processing, Medical Imaging and
Mobile Adhoc Networking, VLSI and Embedded
Systems. Currently we are working on an IGCAR
funded Project on the diagnosis of Breast Cancer
using thermography. In this regard, medical camps
were organized at different places to create
awareness about breast cancer.

established in the year 1984 and is approved by
AICTE, NEW DELHI and affiliated to Anna
University Chennai and it reaches the status of
Autonomous in the year 2011. NEC offers 7
undergraduate and 9 post graduate courses in
Engineering, Technology and Doctoral programme
in various Departments. It has the State-of-the-art
laboratories, a well stocked library and the best
computing facilities besides well qualified and
experienced faculty. Since its inception, NEC has
achieved national standing interms of academic
performance, co-curricular and extra-curricular
activities and also in its growth and commitment to
social service. The standard of excellence of our
teaching is reflected in the success of our students
in industries both in India and Abroad.
