French banjo master Fred Simon and modern banjo designer Tom Nechville will demonstrate and demystify the current state of the banjo art as it relates to music past, present and future. The “Banjo Revolution” celebrates the marriage of modern design and the banjo and raises hopes for a future filled with musical friendships. Tom and Fred will discuss and show how creative ideas applied to the banjo can take root and make changes in how people experience the world. These two banjo pros will showcase several models of acoustic and electric banjos and reveal the BANJO RENAISSANCE that is happening now​
. Fred Simon​
can play everything from hardcore bluegrass to Bach. Having been inspired by the 1989 Toulouse Bluegrass Festival,alongside the greats like Tony Trishcka, Bela Fleck, Bill Keith, his music has developed into an eclectic blend of Bluegrass, Jazz and soulful instrumental compositions. Simon has his own band, Camel Ride, and is currently working on a new album with Russ Barenburg and Jean Marie Redon. Fred collaborates with a wide range of European music artists and this is his first tour of the US. Fred’s virtuoso playing brings spontaneity and fun, no matter the musical context.
