Ergathon Fundraiser

 Instructions for raising money for the Friends of Milton Crew – 2015 Spring Ergathon Fundraiser using Razoo.com Friends of Milton Crew is now on “Razoo.com”. It’s a web site that allows us to raise money from donations for the 2015 Spring Ergathon that will be held on Sunday, May 31, 2015. All athletes are encouraged to participate in this fundraising effort and the instructions below will guide you to creating your account on Razoo.com and start raising money. Your goal should be to raise whatever you feel you are able to achieve. We hope to exceed last year’s GREAT effort by our team members. Our team goal is to raise over $15,000.00 to buy a new boat. There are several features about the Razoo.com site to be aware of. First, you do not have to restrict your fundraising efforts to your immediate family and neighbors. You can send an email to your friends and relatives who are far away, and they can make an online gift to the program, credited to you, in a matter of minutes. You can also share the fundraising information on your Facebook page, or tweet the information. You even get a QR Code that you can drop into printed materials or personal emails. A QR Code or Quick Response Code is the trademark for a type of matrix barcode (or two dimensional barcode). For this fundraiser, you may also collect cash and checks personally, and you may report those on the website in offline donations section. That will help move you up on the “leader board” of fundraisers, which displays every athlete in the order of the funds they have raised. Just remember, you’ll need to turn that self-­‐reported money in at the end of the event, just as you normally would. FRIENDS OF MILTON CREW, INC.

Here’s how to get started. Athletes! It’s important to know that the leader board may be viewed by anyone. There is no other information about fundraisers on the site other than the name, but before you sign up, decide with the assistance of your parents/guardians if you would prefer to use your name, or a name that does not fully identify you. For example, instead of John Smith, you may register as “John S.”. Please follow these steps carefully and use these instructions as you create your page. First, you will receive an email to join Friends of Milton Crew’s cause (please refer to the attached pages for instructions on setting up your fundraiser). Calling All Rowers and Coxswains! It’s time for our Spring Ergathon Fundraiser! The Friends of Milton Crew relies heavily on fundraising to improve and maintain our equipment. We pride ourselves in the fitness of our athletes and we strive to maintain a quality fleet of boats to support the program. Fast boats help win races. We have amassed a fleet of boats to enable all our rowers to be on the water. A new boat costs over $15,000 and the Ergathon is a great way to support our program goal of purchasing a new boat each year. WHAT IS THE ERGATHON? Every rower signs up on the schedule (you will be notified of the allotted times) to row 10,000 meters on the erg in different locations in Milton. The ergs will be placed in front of assigned locations. When April 25 -­‐ May 31 (almost every weekend) Where Different locations in Milton What Each rower commits to row 10,000 meters and solicits sponsors to support their effort. How Razoo.com, to enable donors to make donations with a credit card (you can also collect checks and cash with a sponsor page) Four Steps for the Ergathon: 1. Think about who in your network of friends, family, and neighbors would be interested in supporting the Friends of Milton Crew. Send them an email, use Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram to send a link to your Razoo.com account with a brief description about the event and explain why it is such a great program to support. Feel free to use and modify the paragraph above. 3. Collect and record donations. You can also collect cash and checks from sponsors (sheet attached). Please enter the amount of the cash/check on your Razoo.com account in OFFLINE donations. We will collect your proceeds (checks/cash) on the day of the Ergathon. 4. Erg and have fun!
