A Welcome to 2015 Letter From the President
9 April 2015 To all Members and Families Welcome to Season 2015 with the Cougars. All the behind the scenes work has been completed, we have had our season launch and jumper presentation (wasn’t that a sensational day?) and now we are ready for the action. It takes a heap of work from a range of volunteers to get a season going. I would like to thank everyone involved from office bearers, committee members, coaches, team managers, helpers at training, right down to mums and dads delivering kids (and other people’s kids) to training. Thank you to all involved. I want to take this opportunity to remind people of what we are trying to create here ‐ a junior footy club where the core reason for being is to create an environment where kids come and enjoy playing footy, where families are made welcome and everyone shares in the fun of junior footy. I would like to create an environment where other clubs look forward to coming to visit the Cougars and equally welcome us to their club. This can only be achieved by us all sharing the same attitudes to footy. Footy is a physical and competitive sport. Bumps happens, injuries happen, accidents (and non‐
accidents) happen, umpires can be ‘human’ and passions can run high. However, there is a standard of behaviour that we expect of everyone who represents our club whether as a player, an official or a spectator and that standard must be maintained at all times. I encourage barracking but it should always be positive. We need to support the game, the players and the umpires, and at times we can even cheer the opposition. We teach good sportsmanship, demonstrate positive values and can celebrate but remain humble in victory and accept defeat with grace and class. I would like to remind everyone that only players and officials may enter the playing arena during play (no matter what the circumstance). People who have specific issues should approach a club official (preferably team manager or committee member) rather than confront opposition players, spectators or umpires. Our Sundays should always be enjoyable and by maintaining a positive attitude and environment, our club will go from strength to strength. I look forward to all of you being long serving members of this great club. Have a great season one and all. Go Cougars Michael Everett NJFC President
