Crafter Exhibitor Application - Washburn
CALL FOR VENDORS HISTORIC CRAFTERS & EXHIBITORS FAIR th 5 RALLY FOR NORLANDS: CIVIL WAR LIVING HISTORY EVENT | Saturday & Sunday, June 13-14, 2015 Join us for Living History Fun! The deadline to apply is March 20, 2015. The Washburn-Norlands Living History Center in Livermore, Maine, is hosting its 5th Rally for Norlands: Civil War Reenactment Weekend on June 13 and 14, 2015. A significant portion of the event is a Historic Crafters and Exhibitors Fair, modeled after the “Sanitary Commission” fairs which emerged in the Civil War era as fundraising bazaars. Sanitary Commissions were organized to bring health supplies and aid to Civil War soldiers. Our Historic Crafters and Exhibitors Fair is open to artisans of today who handcraft items using 19th-century traditional materials or methods. Civil War Sutlers who sell period wares and authors of relevant books are also welcome. If you think your craft might fit the criteria, please contact us – we are flexible. Individuals, Historical Societies, Museums and other Organizations are also welcome to exhibit and/or demonstrate antiques, collections, or educational materials to our visitors, if the collection is relevant to the experiences of people who lived in or before the 1870s. Exhibits must represent the general Civil War era, but could encompass an earlier time period. We ask that crafters and exhibitors make an effort to wear reasonable period clothing. Contact us for help and ideas. Museum and organizational brochures may be displayed, but any items offered for sale must be preapproved. A required prepaid vendor fee of $35 is required for the weekend. If your application is not approved, the fee will be returned. This is an opportunity to let the public know about your organization’s or crafts’ connection with America’s history at one of Maine’s largest Civil War Reenactments. We expect about 200 Civil War reenactors and up to 1500 visitors from across New England and beyond. All applications are subject to approval. Participating vendors will receive three complimentary weekend passes to the event. The event will run from 9:00am to 3:00pm on Saturday and 9:00am to 2:00pm on Sunday (tentative times). All exhibitors will be recognized in a final press release about the event and on the event program. THE DEADLINE TO APPLY IS MARCH 20, 2015. To apply, complete and return the application form found on the next page. You will hear a decision by April 1, 2015. Please share this announcement with others! Questions?
