Norma’s favorite place on the entire NJC property was on top of the Johnson Loop near the gas wells. The NJC consists of 303 acres. The Tuscarawas County Commissioners own 240 acres and the Tuscarawas County Soil and Water Conservation District owns the remaining 63 acres. At the yellow pole barn, located on SR 39 just 3 miles west of I-77 Dover Exit 83 hikers can experience the Preservation Loop. While exploring the hills, scenic views and open areas of the Preserve hikers will notice different groves of younger trees. Most of these trees were planted by Norma and her father. This part of the property was reclaimed after the mining process due to the Reclamation Act in the 70’s. There are two ponds located in this loop.
