RESPONSIBILITIES
a. Ensures that the procedures conferring the award are
in keeping with guidelines set forth in the Guide to
ANA’s National Awards Program
b. Screens all nominations and makes recommendations
to the Committee on Honorary Awards regarding
recipients for the following national awards:
 Barbara Thoman Curtis
 Distinguished Membership
 Hall of Fame
 Hildegard Peplau
 Honorary Nursing Practice
 Honorary Recognition
 Honorary Human Rights
 Jessie M. Scott
 Luther Christman
 Mary Ellen Patton Staff Nurse Leadership
 Mary Mahoney
 Pearl McIver Public Health Service
 Shirley Titus
 Staff Nurse Advocacy

Six (6) month term of service aligned with the Call for
Nominations for Awards (August – January)
Two 6-month terms of service
TIME COMMITMENT
Awards are bestowed every other year and requires the
following time commitment:
 Orientation – 2 hours
 Review of award nominations – 20 hours
 Participation in conference call(s) with
Subcommittee members to deliberate on award
nominations – 10 hours
QUALIFICATIONS
Be familiar with the policies and procedures governing
ANA’s National Awards Program
Evaluate nominations to ensure the nominee meets the
criteria for the award in question
Adhere to established deadlines
