Greetings, Springmyer Families!
The sun is out later, the birds are chirping, the days are warmer...it must be spring!
 Wed. 3/25- Beach Day
The Reds might be just starting their season, but here at Springmyer we’re rounding
third (quarter!) and heading for home.
Our students still have a lot of learning and growing to do in this final quarter of
the school year, and we are grateful for your help in keeping them on target. A
few things to keep in mind:

1 - Practice makes perfect. By the time Opening Day rolls around, the Reds will
have been in spring training for six weeks. Our students’ success is also dependent
on ongoing practice in the classroom and at home. I know how challenging it can
be to balance extracurricular activities, busy work schedules, and needed free
time for students. We sincerely appreciate your efforts to support your child’s
learning at home.
 Fri. 3/27- Spiritwear Day
2 - Strong teams are built on strong communication. We strive to keep our families
informed about what is taking place in the classroom and broader school
community and, in doing so, to keep the lines of communication open. If you have
a question or concern, please be in touch!
 3/30-4/3- No School
3 - Showing up to the game is important! Being present and on time to school is
fundamental to students’ success. Thank you for your continued commitment to
ensuring that your child is in the classroom for each minute of our valuable
instructional time.
I’m looking forward to a strong end to Springmyer’s academic “season” -- let’s

Executive Board Election will take place at this meeting.

Committee Chair: Suzanne Borton
*Shop for, set up, and serve refreshments on
behalf of the PTA at various events during the
school year. Provide all food and drinks for
Grandparents Night and the 5th Grade
Extravaganza!
*Coordinate volunteers to help with setting up
and serving the refreshments and then cleaning
up after the event is over.
*Send out requests for baked good donations
via backpack mail, Sparks, and the PTA
Facebook page.
*Events include: Grandparents Night, 3rd Grade
Musical, Band and Encore Concerts, 2nd Grade
Musical, Fine Arts Night, and the 5th Grade
Extravaganza.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support at all of
our greatly successful events so far this school year. Sparky's Movie
Night Carnival was totally awesome!! Your continued support is
what makes our school such a fantastic place to be! I'd also like to
thank all of our great volunteers!! Without you none of our events
would be possible.
If you have ever thought about joining our team of great
volunteers now is the perfect time to come check us out! If you
want to know what's going on and get more involved with all the
extra things we have going on then come be a part of PTA and
get to know what is happening at Springmyer! We will be in need
of many, many fresh new faces to fill all of our open positions
coming up for the 2015-2016 school year. Please feel free to talk to

in our district. The winner from that competition
will represent the Oak Hills school district
at the Hamilton County PTA level.

Congratulations to the Springmyer Elementary School/ Oakdale Elementary Destination Imagination Team
who represented Oak Hills very well this weekend at the Region 18
tournament. They participated in the "Lose to Win" challenge, where
they had to have a structure that weighed less than 75 grams, was
between 12 and 15 inches tall that held 10 pounds of weight (made
only) from wood, glue and playing cards) and they had to remove
weight from the structure to score points. They won first place and
will be representing Region 18 at the State Tournament on April 11.
They also won a DaVinci award (this award is given to recognize
creativity and innovation), the highest honor in Destination Imagination. They won this honor for their Instant Challenge
Performance (do not ask them what it was, they had to take an oath
not to talk about it until after global finals in May)."

Congratulations to the 3rd and the 4th&5th
grade league and tournament champs teams!
The fourth grade Weblos den
went on an overnight at the zoo.
They slept in a house by the wolf
exhibit and went on some behind
the scenes tours and were able to
see the new lion cubs. They were
also to see several animals up close
and were able to touch them.
They had a great time!
