A Letter from the Principal
Dear Parents,
This is a busy time of year at Three Oaks Middle School. The last day of the third quarter is March
26, with third quarter accelerated reader (AR) goals due March 23. At this point, we are entering
the final months of the 2014-2015 school year. The students and staff at Three Oaks Middle have
worked hard this year and I am extremely proud of their accomplishments.
Our intramural sports program has had an active schedule. The girls and boys soccer teams are
preparing for the upcoming playoffs. On March 24, intramural tennis and golf will begin. We
encourage all interested students to come out and participate.
The Florida Standard Assessment Test (FSA) is quickly approaching and the students are working
diligently to prepare. On March 3, our students were administered the FSA Writing Component.
I was exceedingly proud of our high attendance rate and the effort put forth by our students.
As always, I want to thank you for your continued support for the students at Three Oaks Middle.
Sincerely,
Michael S. Carson

Spelling Bee
Three Oaks Middle School held their 20th Annual Spelling Bee on Thursday, February 19th. Haley Webb, chief meteorologist
for NBC-2 news pronounced the words for the 41 students that participated. Samantha Lopez came in first place after the
championship round spelling “anathema” correctly. The second place winner was Valeria Molinary. Both of these students
will compete in the Lee County Spelling Bee on March 19 held at Three Oaks Middle School.
Math Competition
Please congratulate these students if you see them. They have done a great job this year in competitions. This was a difficult
competition. The four member team is headed to the state competition in Orlando. I thank our great math department for
their help in keeping these students on track.

Prepared for Standardized Tests
Does your middle schooler have state tests coming up? Review these strategies before testing begins:
Knowing how to approach different kinds of questions will help them score higher. For instance, on
multiple choice sections, they could cover up the answers while reading the question. If the answer
they thought of is listed and the other options do not make more sense, the child can be pretty
confident they are right.
Have your child find out whether they will lose points for wrong answers. If not, it is best to guess.
Also, if scrap paper is allowed, they can use it to work out problems and to keep their place on the
answer sheet.
