Stratton Building, Cafeteria 8:45 a.m. Introductions House of Representatives Chamber 9:00 a.m. Welcome Address Special Speaker to be announced. 9:50 a.m. Move to breakout Sessions 10:00 a.m. Three Breakout Sessions Students will be divided into three groups and rotate through presentations in the House and Senate chambers and the old Supreme Court room. Presenters will include: Avery Bourne, (R-Litchfield) Illinois State Representative, 95th District Carol Ammons, (D-Champaign) Illinois State Representative, 103rd District Sheleda Doss, Deputy Legislative Director at Illinois State Treasurer’s Office David Kelm, Senior Legal Counsel to Illinois House Republican Leader Jim Durkin and Columnist at Springfield Business Journal Sean Flynn, Legislative & Regulatory Affairs at Neil F. Flynn & Associates Moderators: Brione Lockett, Alex- ander Lane Intern, and Adrian Miller, Gene Callahan Intern, Paul Simon Public Policy Institute and Bryen Johnson, Legislative Director at Illinois Federation of Teachers 12:00 p.m. Lunch, Stratton Building Cafeteria 1:00 p.m. State Rep. C.D. Davidsmeyer (R-Jacksonville) Howlett Auditorium C.D. Davidsmeyer was born and raised in Jacksonville, Illinois, and earned his BA in Political Science from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Following his graduation, Davidsmeyer worked as a Legislative Assistant to Congressman John Shimkus in Washington, DC. In 2008, he joined the Jacksonville City Council and served as the Chairman of the Public Protection Committee and most recently as Chair of the Finance Committee. During that time he also served at the local Chamber of Commerce, Rotary and Library Board. He was appointed to the House of Representatives in December 2012, and sworn in for a full term in the 98th General Assembly in January 2013. 2:00 p.m. Closing Remarks Linda Baker, University Professor, Paul Simon Public Policy Institute 2:30 p.m. Participants are invited to independently visit the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum as guests of the Institute.
