Principal’s Message
Dear Pearl Ridge Families,
I wanted to share that there will be two large Capital Improvement Projects (CIPs)
on our campus this summer so please plan accordingly. Parents will still have access
to our office during regular business hours, but there will be a lot of orange fencing
toward the back of our school where contractors will be completing electrical
upgrades, and laying the foundation for covered walkways.
Other gigantic changes over the summer will be the retirements of our praiseworthy
Pearl Ridge staff. Since they are not the type to boast about themselves, I wanted
to reveal that they have supported Pearl Ridge children for decades…which
definitely includes many of our current parents. Therefore, I hope that if you have
time to share an appreciation with those who worked with your children…or even
yourselves as PRE students.

every child if we work together. Steve Nakasato, Ed.D.

VP’s Corner
Mrs. Audrey Ragragola
For the SAFETY of our Children and others, please
•
leave the space in front of our administration of;ice doors clear for our two specialty buses for after school pick-‐ups. •
use the marked crosswalks when walking. •
Refrain from blocking driveways, sidewalks, and crosswalks when using our parking lots.
•
follow the NO LEFT TURN traf;ic signs when exiting onto Moanalua Road during drop-‐off and pick-‐up times (except buses).
ST. TIMOTHY’S CHURCH has kindly asked that drivers NOT use their parking lot as a turn-‐around. This causes a problem for their Senior-‐citizen Day Care drop-‐offs and pick-‐ups. Please use Moanalua Loop instead.
Student Safety Before and After School
For safety, students should not arrive on campus without an adult before 7:30 am as there is no of/icial school supervision. If arriving before 7:30 am, have your child wait in front of the Administration Building. A safer alternative is to enroll in Early Morning Care from 6:00 am – 7:30 am with Foundation for Families. After school, if not using the school bus or attending the YMCA A+ After School program, students should wait for their ride home in front of the Administration Building. While the nearby park is an inviting place to wait for their ride home, there is no adult supervision. Recently, there have been a few reported accidents at the park resulting in student injuries.
You may contact the of;ice at 305-‐9300 for information and an application for either Early Morning Care or YMCA A+ After School program service.
Looking for Qualified People
Mrs. Julie Bliss-Tyau, will be retiring from her position as Pearl Ridge Elementary’s
upper grade (3rd – 6th) music teacher. Also, leaving to continue her studies is our
upper grade physical education teacher, Ms. Rochelle Cariaga. PRE is looking for
qualified individuals to replace both Mrs. Bliss-Tyau and Ms. Cariaga for next school
year 2015 - 2016. If you have experience working with elementary-aged children,
have a background in either music or PE, and interested in a part-time position here at
PRE, please leave your resume and contact information with our front office staff.
Mrs. Audrey Ragragola, Vice Principal, will contact you for an interview.
