About the Speaker
1) Noel J Akers
Noel J Akers is a Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent
Attorney. He is also a Registered Trade Mark Agent in the UK
and admitted to practise before the European Community Trade
Mark Office. He graduated from the University of Nottingham
with a degree in Chemical Engineering before qualifying in the
patent and trade mark profession.
Noël has worked with a number of international corporations and
law firms and spent a considerable length of time practising European patent law in the United States. Noël has developed a specialty in coordinating patent procurement and litigation in cases
involving actions in the US and Europe.
Noël has extensive experience in all aspects of the procurement,
enforcement and exploitation of intellectual property, and has
published widely on intellectual property rights.
2) Hemalatha Parasa Ramulu
Hemalatha Parasa Ramulu obtained a Bachelor of Science
(Biochemistry) Degree from the University of Malaya in 2000.
She thereafter obtained an LLB Degree from the University of
London in 2005 and earned her Certificate of Legal Practice
(Malaysia) in 2006. She was admitted as an Advocate and
Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2007 and commenced
practice as a general litigator. She is now a Senior Associate with
Skrine in the Intellectual Property unit.

allowed provided the Secretariat has been notified in writing
or by a phone call by the member at least 48 hours prior to the
commencement of the talk to register, kindly complete and

Cancellations must be made in writing. The organizer reserves
the right to modify, cancel or postpone the event, should
circumstances arise that makes such action necessary.
