April 2015 Newsletter - Periastron Vacations
April 2015 Newsletter Welcome to the monthly online newsletter. Web Site Reviews While site service reviews appear to be a mechanism to help a traveller decide on a destination, reviews are problematic. At best, if the reviewer is sincere and drafting an authentic review, the reader will have to take a risk that the reviewer(s) judge quality in the same way. For example, if a reviewer was expecting that seafood would be available when there is none, the reviewer would downgrade the review accordingly. If the reader were allergic to seafood the review would not be a good match. The problem is that the reader has no information as the background of the reviewer and cannot judge the value of the review. I suggest that readers judge a location based on negatives in the review. No one is perfect, so be very suspect of a review with no negative comments. I would expect a wildly amazing and popular location to have a problem with wait times for food and entertainment services. Any legitimate review would mention this. The fact is I have seen such reviews about a resort with which I am familiar. User Tracking We value your privacy. We do not explicitly use tracking codes nor do we subscribe to advertising services who track users and place ads on web pages. We do, however, use Google Webmaster Tools and Google Analytics that provide anonymous site use statistics. Users are identified by city, state and country level. Discounted Travel We do not openly offer discounted travel. More correctly we do not advertise a repeat guest discount. A repeat guest is considered as a Special Guest and provided a vacation at special guest rates. These rates are not published. To qualify as a Special Guest please indicate that you are a returning guest in your initial email.
