Season Information American Legion Baseball is amongst the most historic amateur baseball leagues in the United States, originating in 1925. It is the first program in the world to provide a National Tournament for teenagers. More than 5,400 teams compete nationwide, and more than half of all current Major League Baseball players participated in American Legion Baseball. The season itself for both the Flyers (SR. Legion) and Millers (JR. Legion) spans about 10-12 weeks over the Summer months (late May through early August). Both teams play approximately 30-40 games, competing in Conference Play during the week and Tournaments on the weekends. The Legion seasons, in contrast to the H.S. Spring season, is “game-heavy,” and varies greatly from competition in the Spring. The Flyers and Millers teams represent the top-level of baseball provided by Hopkins in the Summer, and is geared towards players who wish to compete at the highest level possible. The seasons are demanding, and players are expected to make a commitment to their respective teams, prioritizing baseball above all other sports. Excused absences from team activities are limited solely to Religion-based, Familial-based and Educational-based activities. grow and develop from both a humanistic and baseball standpoint; and to help prepare our players for competition at the next level.
