PARENT GUIDELINES
Dear Parents:
Your child will receive dental treatment in our office while you support their experience by
waiting in our reception room. To help your child achieve a successful dental visit, please adhere
to the following guidelines:
1. Allow us to prepare your child
2. Be supportive of the practice's terminology
3. When the child is called to the clinic area, please Smile and have positive thoughts of a good
experience for your child. You may say, “Have fun, and please listen to Dr. Anderson or
Erickson.”
A. This allows us to transfer attention to our assistants for communication with your child
B. Children will normally listen to their parents instead of us
and may not hear our guidance
C. You might give incorrect or misleading information
4. You may hear your child’s voice, and dental equipment sounds. Please feel free to have our
receptionist peek in the clinic area and relay observations of your child’s care to you.
A. Many children will try to control the situation
B. "Acting out" is normal, but unacceptable during filling/procedures.
C. This is intended to "short circuit" the control attempt
D. We will continue to support your child at all times
These are very important ways that you can actively help in the success of your child's visit. We
are confident that all will go well and hope these guidelines will help prepare you with
confidence for the upcoming appointment.
