This actionpacked, hands-on program includes a panel on careers in the hospital, as well as experiential activities. Schedule of Events 9:00 a.m. Welcome 9:20 – 10:15 a.m. Session 1 - List your choices from 1–4: da Vinci Surgical Robot Demonstration with Dr. Anthony Canfield, Medical Director of the Center for Robotic Surgery at P/SL, plus learn about laparoscopic equipment and see a fully set-up operating room. This activity will encompass sessions 1 & 2. Suturing Try your hand at a variety of skin closure techniques. Ultrasound Learn about and participate in sonography – commonly called ultrasound – a diagnostic medical procedure that uses high frequency sound waves (ultrasound) to produce dynamic visual images of organs, tissues, or blood flow inside the body. Pharmacy Learn to prepare IV bags as well as make your own lotion and other topical products. 10:20 – 11:15 a.m. Session 2 - List your choices from 1–3: Birthing Simulation Using the same simulation mannequin as nurses and other healthcare professionals, understand the birthing process from the onset of labor to delivery of the baby Parent/Guardian initals here: Suturing Try your hand at a variety of skin closure techniques.
