driven a stick shift before, the professional ATDS instructors

The ATDS Program
PTDI Certified Course PTD-100
• 20 days of comprehensive instruction and
preparation
• 140 hours of hands-on training using modern,
all-diesel tractors with trailers
• 70 hours of classroom instruction with lab activities
The Innovation
S
tudents begin driving on the second day of the
program to practice and develop skills learned in the
classroom.
I nstruction is provided on conventional model tractors
using a variety of transmissions found in today’s
trucking industry.
L
oaded trailers are used to provide students with
necessary experience driving, maneuvering and
shifting with simulated freight.
T
ractors are equipped with modified “high-tech”
student seating with duplicate gauges, video monitors,
blind side cameras and full radio contact with the
instructional staff.

hile no school can promise you a job, ATDS provides
professional placement staff to assist graduates as they

How to Get Started
• Complete the ATDS Application
• Get your Department of Transportation
(DOT) physical examination
• Get your DOT-regulated drug screen
• Complete the ATDS work history forms
• Provide proof of current vehicle insurance
(if you own your vehicle)
• Provide a copy of your Social Security card
• Complete the following Department of
Public Safety (DPS) tests at your local DPS
office:
• Class A/R Written Test
• Air Brakes
• Combination Vehicle
• General Knowledge
• Any Additional Endorsements
