76TH FOX-FOGARTY MEMORIAL TROPHY
Athletes in the Open Men’s 8km race will also be competing for the annual Fox-Fogarty Memorial
Trophy. The 2015 champion will be presented with the trophy following the race.
Previously a stand-alone cross country meet, the Fox-Fogarty Memorial now continues as a perpetual
trophy incorporated into the Queensland 8km Open Men Championship to ensure this cross country
tradition continues for many years to come.
Fox-Fogarty Memorial History:
The first ‘Jack Fogarty Memorial’ was conducted at
Rocklea on Saturday 28th May 1939 to perpetuate
the memory of a prominent Rocklea Harrier, Jack
Fogarty, who was accidentally killed a few months
earlier. This event has been held annually since,
with members of his family in attendance.
In more recent years, the Fox name was added to
the memorial event following the passing of Mr
Doug Fox, an official and Life Member of
Queensland Athletic Association. His son Cec Fox
and his family have proudly supported and
sponsored the Fox-Fogarty Memorial for many years
to this day.
COMPETITION DETAILS & RULES
Age Groups






Athletes are permitted to compete in a higher age
group where appropriate.
Age groups are determined by the athlete’s age as at
31 December 2015 (i.e. year born), except for Masters.
This is different to how age groups are calculated for
Little Athletics. Year born is included in the program
above as a guide.
Masters ages are taken to be as on the day of the
competition.
All races and results are conducted as separate male
or female events with concurrent start times.
The ‘Open’ age group is open to all ages as
appropriate. A non-championship Open Fun Run has
been included for open age athletes that would like to
run a shorter distance.
Where multiple age groups compete together at the
same time, athletes are only recognised in the results for
the age group they specifically entered.

Club Team Medals

Junior Races (U8 – U12)



QA medals will be awarded to the first three individual
male and female place getters in each of these age
groups.
QA medals will also be awarded to the first three
placed club teams in each age group.
Medals will be presented as soon as possible following
the conclusion of each race.
State Championships (U14 - Masters)

The program incorporates the Queensland ‘Medium
Course’ Championships for the U14-U20, Open and
Masters age groups. The distances selected are shorter
than the standard cross country championship
distances for each age group (but longer than ‘Short
Course Championships’).
Queensland Championship medals will be awarded to
the first three individual male and female place getters
in each of these age groups.
Individual medals for the Masters age group are
awarded in 10-year age groups: 35-44, 45-54, 55-64,
and 65+ only.
All ages are automatically eligible for the Open
Championships in addition to their own age group if
competing in the same race.
Queensland Championship medals will also be
awarded to the first three placed QA club teams in
each age group.
Medals will be presented as soon as possible following
the conclusion of each race.




A team consists of three runners who are all;
- the same gender
- entered into the same age group
- members of the same club (QA or Little A’s)
Athletes must indicate on their entry form the full name
of the QA/Little A’s club they will be representing.
Athletes are automatically placed in teams according
to their club and their finishing order. If there are more
than three runners in an age group from a club, then
the first three runners from the club to finish will
constitute the first team and the second three runners
from that club to finish shall be deemed to be the
second team and so on.
Athletes are only eligible for team medals in the age
group they specifically entered.
Team medals for the Masters age group are awarded
in 35-54 years and 55+ years categories only
