ON DEMAND EXAMINATION (ODE) OF NIOS IN SECONDARY AND SR.SECONDARY COURSES
(For EX-Students of NIOS /Other Boards)
1) Eligibility: Secondary/Sr. Secondary students of NIOS (whose admission’s validity period of five years is over) and any recognized Board
who had appeared in the public examination but could not clear or who were eligible but could not appear the public examination and
those who already passed the course from any recognized Board but wanted to clear one or few (up to four) subjects can take part in the
ODE.
2) Schedule: ODE is conducted on all Tuesdays, Wednesdays and on Thursdays at Kochi and NIOS Hq, NOIDA from 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm.
Practical examinations in subjects applicable for which theory examinations over in a week will be held on Friday of the same week at the
time and venue announced during theory examination. Practical examination usually held on Friday at 10.00 am. Due to conduct of public
examinations, ODE will not be conducted in April, May, October and November. As such registration will not be held in March, April,
September and October.
3.) Registration: Only online registration through NIOS website:
www.nios.ac.in, online admission /Stream-3 for secondary / Stream-4 for Sr. Secondary or link

Registration for a particular month will be commencing from 13.00 hrs of 1st working day of corresponding previous month. There will be
no registration in March, April, September and October as there will not be ODE held during public examination in April, May, October and
November. Registration is possible only when seats are available. Presently, the Kochi ODE Centre is functioning with a capacity of 50 seats
a day.
4) Fee applicable:
Registration fee Rs.350/- and online application fee Rs.50/- , Examination fee per subject - Rs. 250/- for subject which is not having
practical and Rs. 350/- for subjects with theory and practical. TOC fee Rs.100/- per subject.
5) Mode of Payment: By credit Card/Debit Card/Net Banking or Bank draft. Bank draft should be taken from any nationalized bank and
should be drawn in favor of the Secretary, NIOS. Bank draft should be Payable at NOIDA.
6) Where and when to submit the form and fee?: After registration, the print out along with DD should be submitted to the Assistant
Director (SSS), Online Cell, National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), A/24-25, Institutional Area, Sector 62, NOIDA UP- 201309 within 5
days of registration. Registration will be cancelled and vacancy notified, if the form and fee not received at NOIDA office within the
prescribed time.
7) Subjects available under ODE system:
Secondary: Hindi (201), English (202), Sanskrit (209), Mathematics (211), Science & Technology (212), Social Science (213), Economics 214),
Business studies (215), Home Science (216), Word Processing (219), Psychology (222), Indian Culture & Heritage (223) & Painting
(225).
Sr. Secondary : Hindi (301), English (302), Sanskrit (309), Mathematics (311), Physics (312), Chemistry (313), Biology (314), History (315),
Geography (316), Political Sc.(317), Economics (318), Business Studies (319), Accountancy (320), Home Science (321), Psychology (328)
Sociology(331), Painting (332) Environmental Science (333) and data entry Operations(336).
8) Medium of Question Paper: The Question Paper will be in English and Hindi Medium Only, However the Regional Medium Candidates
want to appear through the On Demand Examination will have a choice of answering in the respective Regional Medium. No Regional
Medium Question Paper will be provided in On Demand Examination.
