Course Title
CIEH Level 3 Award in Training – Principles and Practice
This qualification can be taken forward to obtain the Level 3 Award in
Education and Training as it includes Unit 2 of the Level 3 Award in Education
and Training (unit reference number D/505/0052).
Course
Duration
This programme is run over 2 days with course timings 9.00am – 5.00pm.
The assessment is undertaken in one day within 2/3 weeks of the course.
Course Aim
The aim of this course is to provide an understanding of how to use inclusive
teaching and learning approaches in education or training.
Suitable for
• Any individual with an aspiration to take on a training role or who has just
started in a training role
• Individuals who deliver group training sessions as part of their current job
role
• Anyone who is aiming to deliver CIEH accredited courses.
• Any individual who has the potential to study at this level which has the
same level of demand as that of study for A Level.

Guidance
• The CIEH recommends that candidates should have a minimum of Level 2
in English or equivalent
• The qualification is approved for delivery to candidates over 19+
• Candidates must participate in at least 80% of the training programme to
be eligible for assessment.

• Compare the strengths and limitations of teaching and learning
approaches used in own subject specialism in relation to meeting

their English, mathematics, ICT and wider skills.
Understand ways to create an inclusive teaching and learning
environment
• Explain why it is important to create an inclusive teaching and learning
environment
• Explain why it is important to select teaching and learning approaches,
resources and assessment methods to meet individual leaner needs
• Explain ways to engage and motivate learners
• Summarise ways to establish ground rules for learners.
Be able to plan inclusive teaching and learning
• Devise an inclusive teaching and learning plan
• Justify your selection of teaching and learning approaches, resources and
assessment methods in relation to meeting individual learning needs.
Be able to deliver inclusive teaching and learning
• Use teaching and learning approaches, resources and assessment
methods in relation to meeting individual learners needs
• Communicate with learners to meet their individual needs
• Provide constructive feedback to learners to meet their individual needs.
Be able to evaluate the delivery of inclusive teaching and learning.
• Review the effectiveness of own delivery of inclusive teaching and learning
• Identify areas for improvement in own delivery of inclusive teaching and

Assessment
Candidates for the Level 3 Award in Training- Principles and Practice will
undergo a two part assessment:
• A 1,000 word outline of the candidates subject specialism using section
headings on the assessment sheet
• Involvement is a 1 hour micro teach session which includes a 25 minute
delivery session, completion of 2 peer assessments and 1 selfassessment.
