If your child/children have qualified to compete at the WA State Championships being held at WA Athletics
Stadium this weekend (21 & 22 March), please find attached and below relevant information.
The program of events is attached and a list of Ridgewood athletes qualified for each event.
Please ensure you check this so that your child is ready to participate when required. Please note that athletes
will be called for marshalling 20 minutes before track events and 35 minutes before field events. Please note that
the Freeway Bike Hike is taking place on Sunday and the Freeway South will be closed so please plan an
alternative route and allow extra time for your journey. http://www.freewaybikehike.com.au/road-closures
A map of the WA Athletics Stadium is attached. This shows the location of the Ridgewood tents – on the hill
opposite the main stand.
The parent help roster is attached. We have tried where possible to place people as per their preferences but
this is not always possible. Morning roster is 7.30am to 12.30pm, afternoon roster is 12pm to 5pm so it may be
that your roster starts before your child’s first event or ends after their last event. It is your responsibility to
ensure that you fulfil your roster or find someone to replace you. Your help in this volunteer capacity is greatly
appreciated. If you are not listed on the roster, you may still be required to assist so please be ready to help if
requested by a committee member. At the start of your roster please sign in both at the Ridgewood tent and
also in the WALA office under the grandstand near the short track finish at the northern end of the stadium.
Please sign on and collect a tag. You will be required to wear the tag to enter the competition arena and must
return it to your site Key Official at the conclusion of the event scheduled.
Please can all volunteers ensure they wear a hat, enclosed shoes and have a water bottle.
As this is a State Run Event, all athletes must compete in the approved Ridgewood LAC uniform.
Ridgewood Uniform:
 RLAC singlet in the prescribed colour and design as submitted and approved by WALA. These may be
purchased from the Centre. Exposed midriffs are not permitted.
 RLAC shorts in the prescribed colour and design as submitted and approved by WALA. No other pants will
be allowed. These may be purchased from the Centre.
Compression pants completely black (including stitching) or in the approved centre bottom colours with 7cm x
5cm logo are allowed but must end at least 5cm above the knee.
Lightweight running shoes/joggers must be worn for all events. Basketball boots are not allowed. Only short
socks are allowed.
Hats must be removed before the start of all events.

Running shoe spikes up to 7mm, Jumping shoe spikes up to 9mm may be worn by athletes from U11 upwards in
certain events as follows:

Christmas Tree Spikes are the only spikes allowed to be worn.
Please refer to your Spike Licence for further information and rules regarding spikes and spike safety.
Any athlete who breaches these rules or who does not exercise care when using spikes may be disqualified from
the wearing of spiked shoes for the remainder of the States Competition as well as having his/her performance
ruled invalid. Rules regarding spikes are strictly enforced.
For all athletes the top must clearly display the age tag, Jetstar tag and Athlete number as the image below:
As this is a state run event we do not have any control over the enforcement or penalties for breach of these rules
and athletes may be disqualified or denied entry to events for non-compliance.
