Analyst Programmer
Reports to: Technical Solutions Architect (Development Manager)
Department: Business Analysis Team – Library, Technology & Media Services

Main purpose of the job:
You will work as part of a small, highly motivated software development team incorporated into
the Business Analysis Team. Reporting to the Technical Solution Architect and working closely
with the Business Analysts you will contribute to all aspects of the design and implementation of
new applications alongside the enhancement and support of existing solutions. You will be
responsible for providing technical expertise and analysis throughout the entire software
development cycle.
Main duties and responsibilities:
 To assist in the support and enhancement of existing business applications and
associated integration components.
 To participate in the development of new solutions, from requirement gathering through
to delivery, providing technical support and analysis throughout.
 To work closely with the Business Analysts in delivering solution documentation
appropriate for each level of the project lifecycle.
 To provide excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills when resolving issues in
conjunction with the Business Analysis and Infrastructure teams.
 To communicate technical material effectively to audiences of variable technical
proficiency both verbally and in writing.
 Through developing a comprehension of the University’s business systems and
processes, to support the creation of solution specifications and deliverables.
 To contribute to the development of a set of standards, procedures and documentation
relating to the work of the Business Analyst Team.
 In conjunction with the other members of the Business Analysis Team, contribute from a
base of professional expertise to the continuing review and development of the
University's Business Systems.

Additional Information
 Salary range: £33,834 - £36,642 p.a. The appointment is usually made at the bottom of the
range
 The appointment is offered on a permanent basis, subject to satisfactory references.
 The annual leave entitlement is 30 days p.a., additionally there are 3 – 4 days when the
university closes for Christmas
 Your normal hours of work will be 35 hours per week, plus a lunch break of one hour each
day.
