Together we can do so much more.
We’re more than you know. We’re a cause.
Yes, the place that you come to for youth programs, exercise, child care, sports leagues and
so much more – is more than you think! To ensure that no one is denied a chance to participate
in Y programs and memberships because of an inability to pay, the Y offers financial assistance.
In 2014, 2,268 individuals were recipients of $328,273 worth of program services and memberships.
How can you help?
When you give to our Annual Strong Kids Campaign, your gift

Now, when you think of your YMCA you’ll know it’s more than
just a gym... it’s a cause. A cause that, with your generous
support, will continue to strengthen the community you live in.

going. Last, we’ll finish with hydro pilates to work the core and
then relax with a cool down and yoga stretches.
Thurs. 9:00-10:00AM

The TakeFive Initiative
The Institute on Disabilities at Temple University with funding from Pennsylvania Department of Health invites
faith-based and community organizations to train volunteers to provide families of children with disabilities an
occasional break from care giving.
• TakeFIVE encourages children with disabilities, and their families, to be more actively involved in our organization.
• TakeFIVE teaches our staff to recruit, organize and train volunteers to provide on-site group respite at no cost to
families.
What is Friday Night Teen respite?
The first Friday evening of every month parents are able to drop off their children (15-21 years old) with special
needs at the Rose E. Schneider Family YMCA Youth and Family Center for different activities supervised by volunteers
trained in the TakeFIVE initiative (details below). There is no fee for this program and it is open to both members and
non-members.
Evening activities: dinner, socialization and a special event.
Special events will include a PG rated movie, arts & crafts,
swimming, yoga, volleyball and basketball.

Teen Respite Volunteers
We are looking for people to volunteer the first Friday of every
month to work with teens (15-21 years old) with special needs while
their primary caregiver takes a few precious hours to themselves.
These evenings will consist of dinner, socialization and a special
event. Special events will include swimming, a team sport, yoga,
movie or arts and crafts.
Each volunteer must attend the TakeFIVE Initiative training offered
at the Rose E. Schneider Family YMCA on Sunday, April 12, 2015,
