Kombi Hydrolysis
Kombi Hydrolysis Feeding, Hydrolysis, Shredding PRE in the Biogas business since 1995 Featuring • • • • • • • • Patented innovation for a variety of input materials Feeding and hydrolysis in one system No automatic feeding system – no mechanical wear Typical feedstock (solid manure, poultry manure, straw, grass, waste, etc) Repeated hydrolysis phase increases destruction rate The separate hydrolysis stage increases biogas yield Digester role effectively becomes that of second stage digestion Increased biomass to biogas conversion through integrated ultrasonic treatment 2014 | 2015 Innovation & Research Award German Stifterverband Award Winner The German Research Foundation (Stifterverband) granted the award for Innovation & Research to Plannungsbüro Rossow Gesellschaft für Versorgungstechnik mbH Patented Kombi Hydrolysis * from PRE hydrolysis. The digester is now continuously fed with hydrolyzed substrate that perfectly matches the gas production requirement. The biological hydrolysis continues to run until the next feeding procedure starts. And gas released at the filling stage, as well as the gas produced by hydrolysis, is fed into the biogas tank. Biogas plant, Blumberg, Germany Overview digester What is Kombi Hydrolysis? Combined hydrolysis consists of three chambers: a feeding chamber, a hydrolysis chamber and a pumping chamber. Chamber sizes and how they are arranged can be adapted to match the operating environment. The main components are a chopper pump, an agitator and a sensor-controlled inlet. How does the feeding system work? Typically, the first chamber of the hydrolysis tank is loaded with the complete range of solid substrate components on a daily basis - thus avoiding the need to invest in an automatic feeding system. How does Kombi Hydrolysis? work? The combined hydrolysis unit includes functions such as substrate feeding, mechanical shredding, hydrolysis and variable rate loading of the digester. After the tank is filled, and the inlet sealed tight, through co-maceration with the contents of the pumping chamber, the solid substrate contained in the vessel is brought into intimate contact with active microbial biomass. As gradual homogenization of the substrate components takes place under the action of the agitator/cutter and pump, the pulped material is heated to a preset temperature. The pulp is now ready for pumping, and the chopper pump removes it forcibly through a chamber separated from the tank inlet, shredding the coarse components in the pulp, and dissolving agglomerated masses, while pumping the substrate back to the middle chamber. In the following stage, the microorganisms actively promote Digestate storage tank CHP I CHP II Flare Kombi Hydrolysis stall pump Cyclical operation For the purpose of dilution, and inoculation with active microorganisms, digestate is decanted at regular intervals from the digester, thereby constantly exposing substrate to hydrolytical influences and gradual decomposition. Ultrasonic treatment Through the disintegration and dissolution of fibrous substrate constituents, the Wave Box patented by PRE and Ultrawaves GmbH improves biochemical hydrolysis efficiency, and induces up to 20% additional methane production from organic material. The Wave Box is continuously fed from the digester, or the digestate storage tank. System upgrades Existing biogas systems can be upgraded by integrating a combined hydrolysis unit. Typically an upgrade is advisable when a biomass feeding system needs to be refurbished; an auxiliary hydrolysis stage is required to increase the biogas yield; or there is a change of input materials to solid manure, grass, or the like. *patent pending Rossow Energy Consultants (PRV) PRV-Planungsbüro Rossow Gesellschaft für Versorgungstechnik mbH Germany Lindenhof 2c • 17033 Neubrandenburg Telefon: +49 3 95 / 707 47 09 Fax: +49 3 95 / 778 21 38 E-Mail: [email protected] Internet: www.rossow.de Rossow Renewable Energy Consultants (PRE) PRE-Planungsbüro Rossow Gesellschaft für erneuerbare Energien mbH Germany Lindenhof 2c • 17033 Neubrandenburg Telefon: +49 3 95 / 379 51 780 Fax: +49 3 95 / 379 51 781 E-Mail: [email protected] Internet: www.pre.rossow.de Ireland & UK Farmgas Community Partners Ltd.
