Jennings Street School Open Day:
Day
Next Monday 18th May we will be showcasing the learning
at Jennings Street School. A program for the day was sent
home in communication books on Monday. Parents will
have the opportunity to reflect on the learning and teaching
in your child’s classroom using a “Learning Walk” feedback
tool. Staff, are using this tool within Professional Learning
Teams when viewing video footage of their Literacy teaching
t
practice. This enables teachers to develop deeper
connections with the learning, reflect and provide
constructive feedback to colleagues.
If you would like to participate in the Learning Walk on
Monday please meet in the staffroom at 9.15am
9.15
for a quick
briefing.
A reminder to send in the Open Day Return Slips identifying
how many people will be attending, this is important for
catering purposes. Copy attached to today’s newsletter.
Open Day Sausage Sizzle:
We will be having a sausage sizzle lunch at school on our
Open Day Monday 18th May. Students will not be required to
bring lunch on this day, unless you choose to send in their
regular lunch. If it is your preference or for particular dietary
reasons you would not like your child to have a sausage,
please indicate this on the return slip below.
Student Numbers:
We recently welcomed the Snider family to our school with
Jeremy and Daniel commencing this week. This takes us to a
total of 40 students, reaching our official
of
enrolment capacity
for 2015. It is great to finally reach this number, enabling
classrooms to maintain stability for the remainder of the
year.
Woolworths Dominoes Promotion:
Promotion
Recently Woolworths had a promotion using Disney
dominoes. Thanks to Kim Hoy who approached Woolworths
Williamstown on our behalf; Jennings Street School now has
several sets of dominoes for classroom use. These resources
are greatly appreciated in our establishment phase. A thankthank
you letter and picture drawn by Emma Do was delivered
del
to
Woolworths on our behalf.
Rotary Laverton, Point Cook:
I recently attended a Rotary Meeting to accept a Defibrillator generously donated to our school following
our letter of support to Rotary. There has been significant publicity in recent times about defibrillators
saving the lives of unsuspecting patients. In response to a discussion from parents we approached Rotary
and to our delight they were able to assist the school. Attending one of their meetings enabled me to
share information about Jennings Street School and initiate what we would hope would be a long
standing community partnership with this group. It also gave me a great insight into the projects that
Rotary are currently undertaking with schools and community groups within our local community.

Boite Choir:
Phil Marchbank has entered our school choir in the Boite Schools Chorus – One Africa concert. We have 7
families that have taken up the offer to participate in this community event which will occur early in
Term 3 with rehearsals later this term. Phil will be in communication with parents about the
coordination of this event.
2016 Enrolment Process:
School Tours and Information sessions have again been well attended this week with a great deal of
interest in the enrolment process for students aged 5 – 9 years for 2016. Prospective parents have been
provided with information including timelines for submitting and processing documentation in line with
the 2016 Jennings Street School Enrolment Policy.
Subject Contributions 2015:
Statements for 2015 will be sent home with the newsletter today. The total amount owing is $180.00
including the swimming program in Term 1. Payments can be made by the following methods; Cash,
Cheque or BPAY. On your statement you will note a BPAY Biller Code number 87361, this number
represents our bank account. The Reference number, represents your child, this individual number will
then allow us to process receipts against the correct student. We would like you to return the section
indicated with your payment in the student payment envelope provided, even if you are electing to pay
via BPAY. Please contact Linda, 9360 9322 should you require further assistance.
