The Impatiens Plague You Should Know About Downy Mildew is a fungal disease that quickly takes regular impatiens and destroys all buds, flowers and leaves. It travels via air or water and once it's in the soil, it will last 8-­‐10 years, even without a host plant. We strongly discourage planting regular impatiens this season. Disappointing? Of course. Great substitutions? Absolutely! Four options we recommend: Sun to part shade: • New Guinea Impatiens • Flowering Vinca Sun to full shade: • Begonias • Coleus Please note our growers reserve the right to substitute varieties or colors when deemed necessary.
