Lent is finally concluded, and it is time to rejoice again fully! This is the day the Lord has made; let us be glad and rejoice! I know for many of us, Christmas seems the more important day in the calendar, because it is the tender birthday of Jesus the Savior, but today is actually the more important feast, because it is the Redemption and Resurrection, finally accomplished on this feast day, that has the greater impact on our salvation. Of course, we can’t have one without the other, so we give thanks to God for the birth of His Son, and we give thanks to God, for allowing that Son to die for our sins, to give us His forgiveness, and for Him to rise again to newness of life! I do hope you will all have some time today to celebrate newness of life with your families and loved ones today. What can that look like? I know Easter can be a very busy time, with getting fancy new outfits to wear, and often enough, big meals to prepare. Similar to Christmas, Easter has its hustle and bustle to it, so we can get stressed out and distracted from the spiritual and familial meanings of the feast day. But I hope you have time to pray together, after Mass, and give thanks as a family for the gift of new life that God gives to you through His risen Son, Jesus Christ. Congratulations and blessings to our new Catholics, who entered the Church at the Easter Vigil Mass. Their faith, and particularly the faith of their Catholic sponsors, is an encouragement of new spiritual life for all of us! Continue to pray for them, to welcome them, and to be of assistance to them as they fully participate in the life of our parish. I surely want to thank again the RCIA team for their hard work throughout the year guiding the new Catholics into the fold. May the Lord continue to bless you as well for your sharing of the faith! In Christ the Risen Lord, Father Pat CCD Registration ~ 2015-2016 Religious Ed Office Christ departed from our sight that we might return to our heart, and there find him. For he departed, and behold, he is here. —St. Augustine Sunday April 12, 2015 8:30 a.m.– 12:30 p.m. A Stewardship Moment: The tomb is empty! Jesus Christ has risen today! Our Savior is active, alive, and transforming us and our communities of faith, even the world, at this very moment. Easter is a time of joy, a time of celebration. To have faith in the risen Lord is also to believe that we are disciples who bear witness to Christ in a broken and troubled world. To be good stewards of this faith obliges us to be living witnesses to Christ’s peace at home and in public. Jesus cannot be found buried. He is risen. Alleluia!
