Commencement of Criminal Proceedings against
Former Salvation Army Member
The Salvation Army acknowledges the commencement of criminal proceedings against
former member of The Salvation Army, Mr Maurice Press.
The Salvation Army has cooperated fully with police investigations and will continue to fully
assist with the criminal proceedings where requested.
Mr Press was a former lay member in The Salvation Army in the 1990's. The Salvation
Army revoked his membership in July 1995 and the matter is now subject to a police
investigation and court proceedings.
Due to this matter now being the subject of court proceedings, it would be inappropriate for
The Salvation Army to provide any further public comment until those proceedings have
concluded.
The Salvation Army is committed to working with all survivors of child sexual abuse toward
their healing and encourages anyone who was abused in any way connected with The
