CPZ Endorsement
I endorse the campaign to make Santa Cruz a Constitution Protection Zone.
The 2012 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) poses a great threat to our rights and to
the Constitution of the United States by legalizing the indefinite detention of United States Citizens, without the right to charges, the right to trial, the right to face an accuser, and the right to
an attorney. This violates the 1st, 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th, and 14th Amendments of the United States
Constitution.
The City of Santa Cruz and the State of California has already moved to oppose the NDAA with
the Resolution to Restore Due Process and the Right to Trial, and Assembly Bill 351, respectively. I
support the Santa Cruz Constitution Protection Zone’s initiative which will go one full step further
by creating consequences for those that facilitate its implementation here in Santa Cruz.
I give the Santa Cruz Constitution Protection Zone project permission to publicize my support.
Together, we can and must protect our Constitutional rights.
