MEMBER SPOTLIGHTS As the 2014-2015 Program year comes to an end, the staff and volunteers would like to say Congratulations! Thank you! And Best Wishes to all our graduating Seniors. This year’s seniors include: Congratulations to Senior Mike McCann on all of his accomplishments during his time at Sarah Heinz House (Top 50, Camp Counselor). Whenever a staff needed help, Mike was usually one of the first people to step up and volunteer. Mike has been a Midget and Prep Club Volunteer for the last few years and has been a great employee in the Gamesroom, Locker Room and Pool. He has been a truly outstanding member during his time at Heinz and will be truly missed. The staff wishes him the best of luck next year as he pursues a degree in Early Education. Courtney Lardo is a senior member of Sarah Heinz House that we would like to recognize. She was a member of the gymnastics team that has competed with the team. Courtney works in the games room and helps to make sure the children are playing appropriately. There are younger girls that participate in gymnastics classes and Courtney will help them when she can. She has been a big help down at Sarah Heinz House and we wish her all of the luck in the world at whatever she may choose to do in her future. We would like to honor Senior, Gerald “Andy” Watkins on graduating this year! Andy has been a member for twelve years and has been involved in countless programs throughout that time. No matter what, we will miss Andy’s positive attitude and seeing that huge smile every day. This year, Andy has really come into his own as a leader both in Club, Gym/Swim and Resident Camp. Not only has Andy excelled at Sarah Heinz House, he has also excelled in school and the community. Whether it was being involved in the school play or playing in the Urban Impact’s Jazz Band, wherever Andy went, he made a huge impact. Good Luck Andy! We’ll really miss you! Larry Moore is one of our Seniors that will be leaving huge shoes to fill once he graduates this spring. Larry has been a member since 1st grade and has pretty much seen and done it all here at Sarah Heinz House. Although there were bumps April 2015 S.H.H. Bulletin 6 in the road as he was growing up, Larry has really developed into a great, respectful young man. He has excelled both as a leader, Keystoner and Counselor! Larry’s sense of humor and leadership will be greatly missed next year! Good Luck Larry! Throughout his time at Sarah Heinz House, Marcus “Meatball” Williams, has made tremendous strides both as a leader and as a young man. This past year, Marcus was involved in the Keystone Club, was voted captain of the CYM Basketball team, and was appointed Jr. League Director. He has also excelled at our Resident Camp and was appointed a position of counselor last summer. Marcus prides himself on being a leader for the younger members and attempts to lead them down the right path. Although there have been bumps along the way, Marcus has been able to be better and better each year. Next year, Marcus plans on attending college (unsure where) to study Media Editing. Good Luck Meatball! You’ll be greatly missed! As the year comes to an end, senior member Erin Bartolowits is looking forward to going away to Point Park University to study Child Psychology. Erin has been a long time member of Heinz House, and actively involved in multiple areas of the building. Each week you can find Erin working in the kitchen, taking classes and volunteering in the dance studio or just giving a younger member some advice. Erin has grown into a dependable, responsible, fantastic young lady, who will be greatly missed next year. Congratulations on all of your successes and best wishes for your future!! We are SO proud of you! Sarah Heinz House is going to miss the daily smiles, hugs, and kindness of James Watts. Every day that James came down, the members of Heinz House were treated to his friendliness and approachability. He lights up whatever program he is a part of, encouraging others to get excited about the activity at hand. James can always be counted on to be a great participant, always offering to help with set up, clean up, and implementation. Throughout his 3 years as a member, he has been a valuable club volunteer, Leagues player, member of Media Lab, and player on the CYM Basketball Team. Good luck next year James! We know you will go far and your future will be bright! Congratulations to Hadiya Randolph! We are honored to watch the personal growth and development that this senior has experienced over her 7 years at Sarah Heinz House. She has a big heart, and is always so fun and dynamic. Hadiya has the ability to make anyone laugh, and we will miss her throughout our halls! During her time her she has been dancing in 4 different classes for 4 years, and participated in Media Lab, Robotics, our Leadership Development Camp, the annual Christmas play, and volunteered in the Kitchen. We expect to see Hadiya continue to grow as she takes classes at CCAC! Thank you for all that you have done here at the House! We are proud of you! We’d like to honor Griffin Pickett (Senior) for graduating high school this year! Griffin has been a member for many years and was a Bronze Pin recipient this past November. We can’t wait to see what great things he will do in the future! We are so proud of you! Oratorical Contest Winners This year, we had a great turnout for the Intermediate Oratorical Contest.
