CHOMP beth johnson origami Hungry Frog Design and Diagram by Beth Johnson Recommended paper: 10 inch Duo Kami Difficulty Level: Intermediate 3. Fold in half and unfold. AF 2. Fold edges to center. D R 1. Fold and unfold. T Diagrams and models may be reproduced only for personal use, and may not be redistributed or republished in any way without my permission. 4. Fold and unfold. 5. Turn model over. 6. Fold and unfold the corners to the center. 7. Fold and unfold. 8. Fold and unfold. 9. Refold creases made in step 4. 10. Valley fold and unfold angle bisector. 11. Mountain fold crease made in step 10. 10-11 10-11 12 Repeat steps 10-11 on the other three sides. 13. Crimp the model using existing creases (can be considered an open sink). Model will not lie flat. 13a. Model opened up to show crease pattern of the collapse. T 10-11 AF 13-14 13-14 15. Repeat steps 13-14 on the other three sides. Model will lie flat along midline after all sides are collapsed. D R 14.Fold all layers along the crease made in step 6. 13-14 1/3 16. Model collapsed, side view. Fold down top 2 layers. Repeat behind. 17.Spread squash to form eye. Repeat behind. 18.Gently open up squash fold to round the eye. Repeat behind. 19a. 19b. AF T 19.Close sink the corner to narrow the body. You can skip this step if you don’t like closed sinks. After sinking, rearrange the layers inside so that one single layer lies on top of the other layers to hide the sink. You will have four layers lying to one side of the midline, and one single layer lying to the other side of the midline. See steps 17a and 17b. 21. Finished! D R 20. Collapse model in half along existing creases. This is similar to collapsing a waterbomb base. Pull side flaps to make frog CHOMP. AF 13-14 13-14 15. Repeat steps 13-14 on the other three sides. Model will lie flat along midline after all sides are collapsed. 16. Result. Open up model to work on the layers inside. Model will not lie flat. D 1/2 13-14 R 14.Inside reverse fold along the creases made in step 6. 13a. Model opened up to show crease pattern of the collapse. T 10-11 1/3 17. View from the inside of model. There are four layers of paper at each tip. Fold the top two layers to the halfway point of the side edge. Unfold and repeat on the right side. 18. Outside reverse fold to color change the shark’s teeth. Repeat on the right side. 19. Repeat steps 17-18 on the bottom two corners. But fold the layers over to the 1/3 point of the side edge. 21. Mountain fold and unfold the edges. Repeat behind. 22.Close sink the corner. Repeat behind. Only sink these top two corners. If this step is too difficult, you can simply refold ALL the mountain fold creases made in step 21. The closed sinks allow you to lock the fins together. R AF T 20. Close the model. D 24. Valley fold flap and tuck into the pocket created by the closed sink in step 22. Repeat behind. 23. Collapse the model in half along existing creases. This is similar to collapsing a waterbomb base. 25. Finished! Pull fins to CHOMP.
