It seems just like yesterday that we all got our ashes on Ash Wednesday to mark the beginning of Lent and now we are holding Palms on Palm Sunday, which remind us we are entering into Holy Week. Time really flies. Of course we know that in addition to the ashes and palms we received on Ash Wednesday and Palm Sunday, our Lent has been marked by a lot of prayer, fasting and almsgiving – three disciplines that helped guide us through this season and hopefully helped us turn our hearts back to God. So Palm Sunday leads us into Holy Week and all its celebrations that prepare us for the holiest day of the year – Easter. Let’s finish our Lenten journey strong and make this a Holy Week that we really get ourselves ready for Easter. We have so many opportunities this upcoming week to experience the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus. Here is the schedule of events we have here at St. Charles for the Triduum: On Holy Thursday we have the Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7:00pm followed by adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. We will begin Good Friday with Morning Prayer in the Church at 9:00am. This year we will have a priest available in the Church throughout the day to hear confessions – confession is a great way to prepare our souls for Easter. We will have an outdoor Stations of the Cross at 12:00pm and our Good Friday Services – the Celebration of the Lord’s Passion - will begin at 3:00pm. We will then conclude our Good Friday with a Tenebrae at 7:00pm. On Holy Saturday we will have Morning Prayer with blessing of Easter food baskets at 9:00am. And then of course all our Easter celebrations begin with the Easter Vigil at 8:00pm on Saturday night and our schedule of Easter masses on Sunday morning. Please come out and join us throughout the week at all these solemn liturgies. opportunities for us to learn more about the love God has for us. They are really great God Bless, Fr. Chris PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR DECEASED Bernice Warren Lorraine Lomas PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR SICK Let us remember the sick of our community that they may receive healing of body, soul and spirit. Come and be blessed at your own convenience. The chapel is open from 6AM until Midnight every day except Sunday: Noon to midnight. If you would like any information, please contact Marge at 786-0407; Patty at 786-2749 or Bill Gallagher at 609-760-9555. VOCATION PRAYER CHALICE Nearly 150 families, including singles and couples have taken the Blessed Chalice into their homes to pray for vocations once a day for one week. The prayer is furnished. We had one vocation from our parish in 2014. Several have taken it more than once for a special occasion in their home. Each weekend, at a Mass of your choice, a parishioner or parish family is called to the sanctuary after communion to accept the Chalice (or you may take it privately after Mass). The following Saturday the Chalice is returned to the chapel in Marsh Hall and placed on the altar. Please find it in your heart to call or volunteer. Thank you. Please call Pamela and Don Grimme at 856-829-6488 WEEKDAY COMMUNION ANTIPHONS Monday: Do not hide your face from me in the day of my distress. Turn your ear towards me; on the day when I call, speedily answer me. Tuesday: God did not spare his own Son, but handed him over for us all. Wednesday: The Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many. Holy Thursday: This is the Body that will be given up for you; this is the Chalice of the new covenant in my Blood, says the Lord; do this, whenever you receive it, in memory of me. World Meeting of Families March 2015: Creating the Future Marriage is meant to be fertile and welcome new life. Children shape the future, just as they themselves are shaped in their families. Without children, there can be no future. Children reared with love and guidance are the foundation for a loving future. Wounded children portend a wounded future. Families are the bedrock for all larger communities. Families are domestic churches, places where parents help children discover that God loves them and has a plan for each child's life. We continue on our journey together and work hard each day, as we get closer and closer to becoming 2nd graders! In Language Arts, many of us have advanced on to reading chapter books. Some of our class favorites include The Magic Tree House and Junie B. Jones series. We have also been working in our reading response notebooks, where we’ve been answering comprehension questions and answering them in complete sentences. We are writing summaries of each story we read. In addition, penmanship continues to be a focus, and our progress really shows as we look through our writing portfolios, which capture our writing for each month! Each day, we also have a student guest reader, who sits in the rocking chair and reads a story of their choice to the class. In Math, our developing reading skills have helped us to tackle word problems. We have also been learning our addition and subtraction math facts to 20. Currently, we are starting our chapter on geometry. Each day, part of our morning routine starts with a student lead the class in our calendar math, where we count and exchange money, regroup straws, and read an analog clock to the minute. In Religion, we have been learning all about the liturgical season of Lent and how to prepare our hearts and minds for Jesus. We have also been learning about the seven sacraments. So far, we have focused on Baptism and First Penance. We have also learned many bible stories and how to apply Jesus’ teachings 6 St. Charles Borromeo Ministries We are Called … To SANCTIFY Altar Servers Choirs Romeo Modelo 876-3532 Ed Cook 829-7267 Greeters Perpetual Adoration Nancy Andorko 764-2425 Bill Gallagher 829-4467 Liturgy Committee Services for Penance & Reconciliation Sacristans Art & Environment Ann Caruso 609-576-0518 Terry Zimecki 786-0358 Joeram Nuarin 829-3322 Rita Gannon 952-4142 Ushers Wedding Coordinators Vocation Prayer Chalice Tom Dougherty 303-8916 Terry Zimecki 786-0358 Pamela & Don Grimme 829-6488 Readers Eucharistic Ministers Children’s Liturgy Francine Eisenmann 786-8503 Walt Fox 642-7864 Kathy Leven 829-6469 To EDUCATE Career Transition Program PTA RCIA Religious Education Diane Marter 829-1435 Lisa Begley 314-8286 Rene Bremme 829-4021 Pat Hafner 829-9119 Sacramental Preparation Pat Hafner 829-9119 To EVANGELIZE Baptismal Preparation Right to Life Youth Ministry Toni Doughty Peg Campbell 829-2932 Tim & Kait Hurley 308-87767 Evangelization Committee Tots Playgroup Stewardship Committee Kathleen Vandegrift 520-4328 Allison Friebel 609-432-4181 Dennis Murawski 829-9122 Marriage Encounter Ed and Mary Cook 829-7267 824-1588 To DEVELOP Barn Crew Communications CYO Sports Holy Name Society Ron Siconolfi 786-0219 Gary Catrambone 609-560-9038 Joe Purcell 786-5303 Dennis Palladino 829-5331 Hospitality Emma Gomez 778-9193 Carnival Walt & Jean Fox 642-7864 Women’s Circle Marie Serfling 829-4626 Men’s Group Bill Gallagher 609-760-9555 Bereavement Mary Smith 764-5599 Casseroles for the Hungry Cathy Weir 764-9277 Food Drive Bill Sepich 829-3322 Parish Nurses Kathy McCracken 829-0563 Blood Drive Kerry Walker 786-9032 Consolation Rosalie Hieronimus 829-0521 Filipino Outreach Romeo Modelo 786-3532 Ministry to the Sick Carl Sondeen 461-3119 Transportation Bread of Life Food Pantry Allyson Cooney 786-7836 Joe Folz 461-5987 To SERVE Elizabeth Ministry Jennifer Ellis 786-9040 Parish Counters John Welsh 255-5352 7 Meals for the Needy Kathy McCracken 829-0563 Good News Mary Smith 764-5599 Bulletin Cartoon Tony Koszarek 829-2677 ST.
