2015 Baccalaureate Speech Competition Kathleen High School
2015 Baccalaureate Speech Competition Kathleen High School Instructions: KHS has a tradition of allowing 3 outstanding seniors to speak to their fellow graduates during the Baccalaureate ceremony. One senior shares memories from elementary, another shares about middle school, and a third shares about high school. The purpose of these speeches is to “relive” your 13 year career in education and connect with your classmates about the past, present and future. This year, we have decided to have a friendly competition to see who gets the privilege of speaking at Baccalaureate. To apply, simply complete the form below and return to Mr. Thacker by Wednesday, May 13th. Finalists will be selected from the returned applications. Each finalist will have to give his/her speech to a panel of judges at a scheduled time. The winners (one for each category – elementary, middle, and high school memories) will be a part of the Baccalaureate program on May 31st at Victory Church. OVER for Page 2  Speech Write a 3‐5 minute speech that helps your classmates relive their elementary, middle, or high school years (only write to the category you selected on page 1). Remember, you will have to also present your speech to a panel of judges. Staple your typed speech to this application. Suggestions: come up with experiences that will connect with a wide range of people in the audience. Incorporate historical events, fads, trends, etc. that will help your classmates go back in time. Avoid being dark or depressing. This is a happy occasion so a winning speech will make the audience feel positive and may even spark some laughter.  Feel free to use additional paper, if necessary, but remember to keep the speech to under 5 minutes. Lastly, don’t make the speech all about your personal experiences because you are trying to help your classmates relive their schooling as well. Good luck!
