Cohort Reference Group by having a data driven agenda focus.
* Enhance the Parent Class Representative Framework and implementation model.

* Continue engaging the school stakeholders in the daily business of teaching and learning through the

Responsible Behaviour at Cranbrook
Students are provided with ongoing support in understanding and demonstrating expected behaviours. To help
all parents and carers understand what a Cranbrook Learner looks like or sounds like, the following behaviours
and settings will be included in every weeks newsletter.
SAFE - Playgrounds
• Follows directions of staff on duty
• Uses playground equipment for intended purpose
• Wears shoes at all times
• Wears a hat at all times
• Plays on designated playground
• Understands sticks and stones remain on the ground
School Resource Scheme 2015
All forms are to be completed by the 27th March with full payment to be eligible for the 10% discount.

ICAS (INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIONS & ASSESSMENTS FOR
SCHOOLS)
The tests are for students in Years 3 - 6. They will continue to provide an opportunity for all students to gain a
measure of their own achievement in an external assessment situation.
Entry is available for the following subjects : Digital Technologies, Science, Mathematics, Writing, Spelling and English.
Students who participate will each receive a Certificate and a detailed results letter indicating questions
answered correctly and skills tested. Participation is by parent nomination.
Registration forms for children in years 3 - 6 are available from outside the Administration Office. Although
some tests will not be sat until later in the year we still require the entries and payments by Monday 30th
March.
Please Note: Unfortunately due to a change in the registration policy, there needs to be a minimum of 3
student registrations in a subject for that subject testing to go ahead at Cranbrook. If the minimum number of
registrations in a subject is not reached then you will receive a full refund for that subject.
NO LATE ENTRIES/PAYMENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

ADOPT A COWBOY
Cranbrook State School’s ‘Adopt a Cowboy’ for 2015 - once again is Ethan Lowe. Ethan had a great
game ,scoring a try on Saturday night’s close match against Newcastle
Ethan will be at Cranbrook State School for his first official visit on Thursday 26 March.
Thank you to Cowboys and Stockland for the great support given to the school through their generous donation
of a gift pack (given to the school at the official ‘Meet and Greet’). The pack included certificates of recognition
(from which the children can redeem prizes from Stockland) and some great Cowboys merchandise for the
school to use as raffle prizes.
The school would like to take this opportunity to thank Stockland for their continued support in ensuring this
fantastic program continues and the Cowboys for initiating it.
RELIGIOUS INSTRUCTION
Religious Instruction (RI/ Religious Education/ RE) will soon be starting again in some year levels. Those
students in Years 2 – 6 who did RI last year and Year 1 students who have a Christian denomination indicated
on their enrolment form will be automatically included. If your children are not already included and you would
like them to attend please send a note to the school office. If your children are included but you wish to withdraw
them please send a note.
If you are a member of a local church and are interested in being a volunteer RE teacher we would love to hear
from you. All materials are provided and training is available. Please contact the RE co-ordinator Adele Williams
on 47754094 or leave a message at the school office.

COMMUNITY NEWS
Museum of Tropical Queensland
It’s a BUSY week at the Museum and we’re really pleased to announce that entry will be FREE for Townsville
locals this Saturday March 21 for our Harmony Day celebrations – thanks to the generous support of the
Townsville City Council.
In the spirit of Harmony Day, Burdekin locals are also FREE on Saturday, and Charters Towers and
Hinchinbrook locals are always free (thanks to the generous support of their councils).
We’ve got a packed program with heaps of interactive activities including:
• Indonesian dance and singing performance
• International food prep demonstrations and tastings
• Chinese tea ceremonies
• Somalian drumming and dancing performance
• Filipino siomai (dim sim) making demonstration
• Join the Somalian drum circle!
• Nepalese dance performance
• Calm Abiding Meditation with Phil Heang
• Spanish Flamenco dance performance
• Papua New Guinean beading workshop
• PLUS HEAPS MORE!!
