Volume 9 April 24, 2015
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Welcome back to Term 2. We have a very busy term ahead of us with many
events. Be sure to follow our school newsletter and Facebook page to keep up
with all of the activities. We have started this week with a continuation of our
year of Dakabin Remembers.
With this very important ANZAC Day, the centenary of the landing at Gallipoli,
we would love to see as many students as possible join us for the Anzac Day
March on Saturday. Our school always has a very impressive number of students come along and we certainly appreciate how respectful our families are
in bringing their children along to march.
On ANZAC Day all students from Dakabin State School have been invited to
participate in the ANZAC Day March at Kallangur run by the Pine Rivers RSL
Sub branch..
Details of the march are as follows:
7:30am - 7:45am All children assemble outside the Kallangur Fair Shopping Centre – In the car park of the Woolworths Supermarket
8:00am – Schools will ensure students are prepared in lines ready for the
march
8:15am – Parade Marshal will signal the start of the parade. March commences for students and staff. (Parents to meet students
at the RSL following the march.)
8:45 – 9:00am March finishes – Please collect your child from
your schools designated area.
Students all State Schools will be marching under one banner –
“State Schools Honour Our Defence Forces”.
•
All children must be in school uniform - Yellow Polo or Formal
Striped Shirt / Dress
•
School hats must also be worn and please bring a water bottle.
•
Children are encouraged to wear medals of relatives during the march.
•
We look forward to many students supporting this special occasion.
•
Please note that parents who wish to march in the parade are invited to march as a group behind our
school.
2015 Spring Fete
This term we have also launched the 2015 Spring Fete. There have been a few workers starting to prepare for
our Fete this year, but now it is starting wind up to where we need your support. Over the coming weeks we will
be holding fortnightly Fete meetings. The dates and times of the meetings are in the Upcoming Events column
on the left of the newsletter. The fete is a major fundraiser for our school and we continue to use these funds to
improve and maintain our technology hardware such as interactive projectors and our iPad program.
Year 6 Camp—Maroon Outdoor Education Centre
Please note that the absolute final payments for Year 6 camp are due on Thursday 30 April. We are unable to
take payments after this unless you are on a payment plan. 75% of your camp payment needs to be paid or
your child will be unable to attend camp.
Kind regards
