PLEASE CAREFULLY READ AND REVIEW THESE PROCEDURES.
THEN SHARE THIS INFORMATION WITH YOUR SENIORS.
1.
All seniors with a “B minus” or better average in any course in the final semester of the senior
year will be exempted from final examinations in that course
2.
Senior students should be notified whether or not they are exempt from the final no later than
May 12. Those teachers having seniors will determine their grades by averaging the third and
fourth quarter grades. Those students with a “B-minus” or better average will be exempted from
finals and their semester grades will be this average. Seniors with less than a “B minus” average
will take a final exam at the scheduled examination time below. A student exempted from a
final examination has the option of taking a final and having his/her semester average
recalculated. Those students must notify the teacher no later than class time on Friday, May 15.
4.
Students who are borderline in being exempted from finals, should be warned
to not wait until the last minute to prepare for the examination.

The classroom teacher is responsible for bringing the necessary tests, and other necessary
materials, to their department chair before 3:30 PM on Friday May 15. Tests should be clearly
marked with the teacher’s name, student’s name, the subject of the test, and any special
instructions. If the test is being given during a conflict period, please indicate the date and time
of the test.

Seating arrangements and procedures for each testing area are the responsibility of the
Department Chair.
5.
Particular care should be given to exams to be administered at times other than the assigned
period (name of student, course, teacher, instruction, etc.).
6.
Class designation (honors, survey, etc.) is not a factor in determining the second semester
average.
7.
Teachers should keep in mind when grading senior final examinations that students with an A or
B semester average were exempt from the final.
