El Dorado Community Foundation Receives National Recognition
For Immediate Release: Pam Hagen El Dorado Community Foundation 530-622-5621 El Dorado Community Foundation Receives National Recognition The El Dorado Community Foundation Executive Director, Staff and Board of Directors are proud to announce their recent national recognition and five-year accreditation from the Council on Foundation’s National Standards Board. The Council on Foundations is formed of approximately 1,600 independent operating, community, public and company-sponsored foundations and corporate giving programs in the United States and abroad. It is a national organization that exists to expand, enhance, and sustain the work of the philanthropic field and to ensure that policymakers understand the important role they play in advancing society. National Standards accreditation represents excellence in community philanthropy to those who acquire that recognition of operational excellence. The Council believes that with their standards met, community foundations can innovate and take risks necessary to solve complex problems. In a recent letter from the National Standards Board, the El Dorado Community Foundation was awarded the COF Standards because “it has met with the highest philanthropic standards for operational quality, integrity and accountability”. The letter further states, “National Standards accreditation is a commitment to transparency, excellence, stewardship and leadership. The ultimate rewards of accreditation and the subsequent reconfirmation are the credibility it brings to community foundations and the confidence it gives donors, professional advisors and others who seek a qualified, trustworthy philanthropic partner.” Bill Roby, Executive Director at the El Dorado Community Foundation stated that “Achieving this high level of recognition is an arduous, complicated process that is often only tackled by large metropolitan foundations. For our small staff to choose to tackle it, and conquer it, is both humbling and exhilarating.” 1 Because part of these standards includes their work with county, city and state governmental agencies as well as nonprofit organizations, Mr. Roby added, “The Foundation would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have partnered with us, including our generous donors, for the opportunities they have afforded us over the years as, together, we continue to build a strong, cohesive, productive community.” The El Dorado Community Foundation is a designated 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization serving its donors for the benefit of the residents of El Dorado County since 1991. For more information about the work they do, you are invited to visit their website at www.eldoradocf.org or call them at 530-622-5621. 2
