Innledning
Året 2012 ga flere positive resultater for Young Life Healthcare og Education Foundation i vårt arbeid
med å tilby helse/omsorg og medisinske tjenester til vanskeligstilte barn. I 2011 hjalp stiftelsen 34
barn. I år har hjelpen økt betraktelig til 53.
Vi er meget takknemlige overfor våre sjenerøse bidragsytere fra Norge, Sverige og Filippinene, som
med metodiske aktiviteter som donasjoner og pengeinnsamlingsprogrammer bidrar med midler til
Young Life’s prosjekt og tjenester. Vi retter også vår takknemlighet til private bedrifter og individuelle
støttespillere som bidrar til å dekke organisasjonens administrative kostnader.
Young Life Foundation skaper og driver målrettede program for trengende i samarbeid med det
statlige sosialkontoret - Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Young Life har sitt kontor i House of Dreams, ML Quezon National Highway, 6015 Mactan, Cebu,
Filippinene. Administrasjonen er opptatt av å være åpen og ansvarlig med jevnlige møter og
presentasjon av årsrapporter.
Høydepunkter i 2012
A1 Velferdskonsert & House of Dreams
Bortsett fra organisasjonens pågående helseprogram; Young Smile
og Special Medical Operations, som har fått flere støttemottakere i år, er vi
stolte av å presentere Young Lifes nye ambassadører: Ben Adams,
Christian Ingebrigtsen og Mark Right fra bandet A1. Bandet kom den lange
veien fra Europa til Cebu for å holde veldedighetskonsert for Young Life, på
Waterfront Hotel, Lahug, Cebu City,
den 23 november. Det ble en meget
vellykket konsert og inntektene bidro til
at stiftelsen kunne åpne barnehjemmet
House of Dreams. Drømmeuset er det
første skrittet til målet om å hjelpe foreldreløse, forlatte og
forsømte barn til et hjem hvor de kan leve og vokse opp i et trygt
og beskyttet miljø.

tapre
brannskadde
jenta som etter ett års kamp i meget dårlig
tilstand, fikk endelig lov av sine leger til å bli flyttet
over til sitt nye hjem - House of Dreams. Her får
hun kontinuerlig tilsyn og er forsynt med alle de
medisinske og grunnleggende behov som kreves for en fullstendig rehabilitering.

Til våre kjære venner,
givere, velgjørere og
støttespillere,
Året 2012 har gitt organisasjonen Young Life
nye utfordringer, og det gleder meg å kunne
fortelle at vi har nådd målet om å etablere et
hjem for vanskeligstilte og forlatte barn på
Filippinene. Dette spesielle barnehjemmet
kaller vi "House of Dreams". Det ligger beleilig plassert på Mactan Island i Cebu på Filippinene.
Jeg er også stolt over å kunne melde at fremdriften i organisasjonen i 2012 var svært
tilfredsstillende. Vi har fått i gang en fadderordning og I løpet av året har vi doblet den økonomiske
innkomsten vår, noe som betyr mye for barna som vi hjelper og de som venter på vår hjelp. Jeg
oppfordrer alle til og fortsette å støtte Young Life organisasjonens humanitære prosjekter som House
of Dreams, våre spesielle medisinske operasjoner og Young Smile hvor antallet som trenger vår hjelp
øker sterkt. Vi forventer oss flere oppgaver dette året, noe som ikke vil hindre oss fra å jobbe hardt
for å oppfylle Young Life organisasjonens mål og ambisjoner. Vi vil fortsette mer iherdig for å finne
flere støttespillere som ønsker å bli med oss og forandre livet til disse barna.
Jeg vil også gjerne benytte anledningen til å takke alle frivillige, ansatte og andre bidragsytere for et
flott arbeid og et godt samarbeid i 2012. Min spesielle takk går også til bandet A1, for deres bidrag,
samt til alle øvrige donatorer og støttespillere fra Norge, Sverige og Filippinene. Sammen er vi sterke,
og med hver vårt bidrag vil vi oppnå mye for de vanskeligstilte barna som trenger det mest.
Personlig ser jeg frem til å jobbe sammen med dere alle videre og fortsette arbeidet med å utvikle og
oppfylle prosjekter for organisasjonen Young Life og sist men ikke minst barnehjemmet House of
Dreams som vi alle er så stolte av.

Hvem er vi
Organisasjonen Young Life Health Care and Education Foundation, er en non-profit, ikke-statlig
organisasjon. Stiftelsens formål er rettet mot å forbedre livskvaliteten og mulighetene for
vanskeligstilte og foreldreløse Filippinske barn.
Vår visjon og misjon:
Organisasjonens oppgave og visjon er å bringe upartisk kvalitetshjelp innen medisinsk pleie- og
omsorg samt å gi underprivilegerte barn en god utdanning uavhengig av rase og religion.

Administrasjonen har tilsyn over organisasjonen og styrer disponeringer, oppfordringer og
donasjoner. Foreløpig består administrasjonens ledelse av åtte medlemmer. Medlemmene sitter i tre
år, men et sittende medlem kan bli gjenvalgt eller utses på slutten av hvert semester.
Alle styremøter er åpne for publikum.
Slik arbeider vi
Vi arbeider med etiske humanitære prosjekter med fokus på barn. Vi er forpliktet til å bringe
upartisk kvalitetshjelp innen medisinsk pleie- og omsorg samt å gi barn en god utdanning uavhengig
av rase og religion.
Vi er også opptatt av å støtte prosjekter som forbedrer helse og livskvalitet for de aller
vanskeligstilte barna på Filippinene. Barn med misdannelser i ansiktet som trenger medisinsk
behandling og kirurgi, barn med livstruende sykdommer og med spesielle medisinske behov, er
eksempler på barn som får vår støtte. Vi skaffer midler til deres medisinske behov og til
etterbehandling.
Vårt sterke fokus på helse og utdanning for vanskeligstilte
og foreldreløse barn skiller oss fra andre internasjonale ikke-statlige
organisasjoner. Barn fra fattige familier er én av de mest utsatte
gruppene i avsidesliggende områder på Filippinene. Vi ønsker å
utvikle barnas ferdigheter og hjelpe dem i deres krav på utdanning.
Dette er hovedfokus for House of Dreams prosjektet. Vi vil også
prioritere barn med nedsatte funksjonsevner, minoriteter og etniske
grupper, gatebarn samt barn i risikabelt arbeid..
Brannskadde Reyna Joy vår
suksesshistorie
Etter Reyna Joy sin tragiske ulykke ved å falle ned i en Copra ovn
og bli mer enn 70% brannskadd klarte vi i Young Life å redde
hennes liv men det var en hard kamp for lille Reyna Joy(4) for å
holde seg i live, men nå har legene erklært henne som trygg. Hun har fått lov til å forlate sykehuset
og fortsetter nå sin medisinske behandling. Hun er med i Young Life Foundation, og er i full
rehabilitering i House of Dreams. Takket vere Young Life og ikke minst donasjoner og fadder kan
Reyna Joy nå se en fremtid i møte.

Young Life Organisasjonens prosjekter
House of Dreams
Et hjem for vanskeligstilte, foreldreløse og forlatte barn.
House of Dreams er et barnehjem for gatebarn og vanskeligstilte. Det ble åpnet 24. november 2012.
Huset ligger langs ringveien på Mactan øya
Her opprettholdes barnas privatliv i en god komfort. Her kan de leve trygt og harmonisk. Huset har
potensiale for videreutvikling og for fremtidige forbedringer.
Alle som bor i House of Dreams har sin egen seng som hver dag er rene og ryddige, dette er en
enorm kontrast fra den hvirkeligheten i slumområdene som disse barna kommer i fra.
Barna får 4 måltider hver dag pluss mellommåltider. YoungLife har som program og lære alle barna å
svømme innen utgangen av det første skoleåret

Undervisning i barnehjemmet
I House of Dreams har vi ogsa vårt eget day-care senter eller barnehage hvor barna får
grunnleggende kunskaper føre de begynner på skolen.
På bildet ser vi den Norske ambassadøren til Filippinene Knut Solem som var på besøk i House of
Dreams og han var imponert over hva en liten gruppe nordmenn har fått til for å hjelpe disse barna
fra slummen!
Special Medical Operation
Babyen Jay er født med Hirschsprungs
sykdom. Det er en medfødt lidelse som forårsaker
forstoppelse og som gjør det vanskelig for avføring
å passere gjennom tykktarmen. Noen barn med
Hirschsprungs kan ikke ha avføring i det hele tatt.
Avføringen skaper en blokkering i tarmen.
Babyen Jays foreldre har ikke økonomiske
muligheter til behandling og de søkte hjelp fra
Young Life. Med støtte fra organisasjonen,
gjennomgikk gutten en vellykket operasjon da han
kun var tre dager gammel.
Matthew, er født med anorektal misdannelse
(ARM). Ved hjelp av Young Life gjennomgikk han
et
vellykket
kirurgisk
inngrep
der
endetarmsåpningen ble flyttet dit den normalt
skulle ha ligget.
Special Medical Operation
Dianne har vært vår pasient siden 2008.
Hun var undervektig for sin alder da hun ble henvist
til oss. Dianes foreldre har en inntekt som ligger
under fattigdomsgrensen og de har problemer med å
skaffe nok mat til barnet.
Young Life har støttet Dianne med melk og
vitaminer gjennom programmet Special Operation.
Ansvaret vårt er å dekke hennes ernæringsmessige
og medisinske behov, helt til hun er sterk nok til å
tåle en operasjon.
Sosialarbeideren vår
overvåker nå Dianes vekt til den blir
normal, hvilket er kravet for å
gjennomgå en kirurgisk nasal
gjenoppbygging.
Både Annabel og Anera led av alvorlig
underernæring da de ble henvist til oss.

Begge barna fikk umiddelbart næring med
spesiell melk og medisiner, etter anbefaling fra en
Young Smiles
Rhea og Benjie er to søsken
som begge er født med
leppe-kjeve-ganespalte. De fikk hjelp gjennom Young Smile
Operation Healthcare Program.
Operasjonen var såpass vellykket at begge nå kan smile og går nå
en lysere fremtid i møte.

Young Life har jobbet intensivt for å nå ut til vanskeligstilte barn i byene Cebu og Lapu-Lapu,
inklusive barn fra de mest fattige områdene på Mindanao og i Cebus nærliggende provinser.

Med støtte fra byen LapuLapus ordfører, Paz Radaza,
kunne Young Lifes team og
frivillige reise rundt på øya og
møte de barna som ble henvist til
oss for medisinsk hjelp.
Barangay Sta. Rosa på
Olango Island har en befolkning
på 12 000 barn. Her finnes det
kun ett offentlig lite sykehus for
både barn og voksne som tar
seg av ulike sykdommer. Sta.
Rosa Community Hospital ledes
av en lisensierte lege og en
sykepleier som av og til kommer
på runder sammen med andre
leger fra øya Mactan. De
vanligste sykdommene blant
barn, basert på den siste
undersøkelsen
fra
helsedepartementet, er diaré,
forkjølelse og influensa.

organiserte Young Life
barnas julefest. Fløyen ble
fylt med gaver fra givere
og en klovn underholdt
barna.

bror) mens de eldre deltok
i de ulike lekene som var
tilrettelagt for barna.
Gaver til Caubian Island
Å gi gaver til vanskeligstilte barn
på Olango Island med
omkringliggende øyer, er også en
av Young Life store årlige
aktiviteter.
Julen 2012
Årlig tradisjon på juleaften er også gaveutdeling til
barneavdelingen på hospitalet CCMC (Cebu City Medical
Center)
Barneavdelingen har mer enn 160 barn innlagt i julen
noen svært syke andre med mindre lidelser men til felles
for de alle er at vår Young Life Julenisse ga dem i hvert
fall en kort stund med glede og andre tanker!
Strategisk partnerskap
I snart 6 år har organisasjonen Young Life forbedret barns liv. Vi er ikke alene i å oppfylle drømmene
til disse barna. Våre samarbeidspartnere, givere og støttespillere har også en aktiv rolle for å
opprettholde barnas velferd og deres grunnleggende rettigheter om å kunne leve i harmoni med
samfunnet..
Forbedringsplaner:
Prosjektene våre er satt i gang og gjennomføres med høyeste kvalitet som mål. Anerkjente
resultater og suksesshistorier måles med jevne mellomrom. Vi skal videreutvikle våre ansattes
kunnskaper og ferdigheter med å håndtere ulike barns samfunnsmuligheter, basert på
utviklingsprosjekter og for å bringe frem kvalitetsprogram. Vi vil satse på opplæring av både tekniske
egenskaper og lederegenskaper for våre ansatte og vi vil streve for utviklingsprogrammer som fører
til økt innflytelse til andre organisasjoner og i samfunnet generelt.
Hvordan kan vi gjøre dette?
I løpet av de neste fem årene vil Young Life:
• Etablere og utvikle House of Dream på Mactan Island.
• Bli stadig mer anerkjent for vår kompetanse innen barnesentrert utvikling og humanitær respons.
• Bli en foretrukket partner og nå ut til nye støttespillere og samarbeidspartnere, inkludert
enkeltpersoner, institusjonelle givere og bedrifter i Nord-Europa.

Young Life Foundation ønsker å takke
popgruppen A1 for deres veledighets konsert
som ble arrangert her i Cebu den 23 November
2012 for hele 4000 mennesker og dette gav
organisasjonen hele NOK120 000,- I
overskudd.
Vi er svært takknemlige for at popgruppen
reiste den lange veien fra Europa for å støtte
det arbeidet vi gjør, deres bidrag vil være med
på og hjelpe svært mange barn til en mye
bedre hverdag og ikke minst å se en fremtid!

Vår økonomi i 2012
Vi skaffer våre egne midler gjennom donasjoner og godhjertede partnerskap sammen med private
selskaper. Året 2012 viste til god forbedring av inntekten som totalt ble USD 164,093,97. eller NOK
ca 950 000,Vi har også vært så heldige I 2012 at vi har fått hjelp fra flere frivillige sosialarbeider studenter fra
vår universitetspartner, Mindanao State University, Marawi City. De har deltatt med
saksundersøkelser for barna og har hatt kontakt med våre samfunnsprosjekt. Bedriftskunder og
forretningspartnere har bidratt til våre faste personalkostnader. Vi håper at støtten fra disse
institusjonene vil fortsette i årene som kommer.
Fra den samlede inntekten til USD164, 093,97, ble kun 8 prosent brukt til administrasjonskostnader,
11 prosent ble brukt til finansiering av brosjyrer og annet reklamemateriell. Den største delen på 81
prosent gikk til veldedige prosjekter som House of Dreams, Special Medical Operation og Young Smile
Operation, samt til donasjoner av medisinsk utstyr til offentlige distriktssykehus.
Revisjonsselskapet Diaz Murillo Dalupan (DMD) donerte på ny gratis sine regnskapstjenester til en
verdi av USD 938.27 til Young Life i 2012.

Report on the Financial Statements
We have audited the accompanying financial statements of Younglife Healthcare & Education
Foundation, Inc. which comprise the statements of financial position as at December 31, 2012 and
2011, and the statements of activities, statements of changes in fund balances and statements of
cash flows for the years then ended, and a summary of significant accounting policies and other
explanatory information.
Management’s Responsibility for the Financial Statements
Management is responsible for the preparation and fair presentation of these financial statements in
accordance with Philippine Financial Reporting Standards for Small and Medium-sized Entities (PFRS
for SMEs), and for such internal control as management determines is necessary to enable the
preparation of financial statements that are free from material misstatement, whether due to fraud or
error.
Auditors ‘ Responsibility
Our responsibility is to express an opinion on these financial statements based on our audits. We
conducted our audit in accordance with Philippine Standards on Auditing. Those standards require
that we comply with ethical requirements and plan and perform the audit to obtain reasonable
assurance whether the financial statements are free from material misstatement.
An audit involves performing procedures to obtain audit evidence about the amounts and disclosures
in the financial statements. The procedures selected depend on the auditor’s judgment, including the
assessment of the risks of material misstatement of the financial statements, whether due to fraud or
error. In making those risk assessments, the auditor considers internal control relevant to the entity’s
preparation and fair presentation of the financial statements in order to design audit procedures that
are appropriate in the circumstances, but not for the purpose of expressing an opinion on the

Notes to Financial Statements

1.
CORPORATE INFORMATION
Younglife Healthcare & Education Foundation, Inc. (herein referred to as “Foundation”) is a
non-stock, nonprofit corporation, registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission
(SEC) on March 5, 2010 with registration number CN2O 1025277. The primary purpose of
the Foundation is to receive and administer funds for charitable, medical and educational
assistance and social welfare purpose and to that end hold, by bequest, devise, gift,
purchase, or lease any property, real, personal or mixed without limitations as to amount or
value except such limitations, if any, as may be imposed by law.
The registered business address of the Foundation is at Europe Bldg., M.L. Quezon National
Highway, Ibo, 6015, Lapu-lapu City, Cebu. Its operational activities are financed by donations
from various donors locally and abroad, which are solely applied for the furtherance of the
purposes for which the Foundation was organized.
The financial statement of the Foundation for the year ended December 31, 2012, including
its 2011 comparative, were reviewed, approved, and authorized for issue by the Board of
Trustees on April 11,2013.
2.
SUMMARY OF SIGNIFICANT ACCOUNTING POLICIES
These financial statements are prepared by the Foundation in accordance with the PFRS for
SME issued by the Philippine Financial Reporting Standards Council. The principal accounting
policies applied in the preparation of these financial statements are set out below. These
policies have been consistently applied to all the years presented, unless otherwise stated.
Basis of preparation
The accompanying financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the Philippine
Financial Reporting Standards for Small and Medium-sized Entities (PFRS for SMEs). The
financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost basis convention.
Measurement bases are more fully described in the accounting policies below. The financial
statements are presented in Philippine Peso and all values represent absolute amounts
except when otherwise stated.
Accounting concept used
The Foundation is adopting the accrual method of accounting revenues and related expenses
though it uses the fund concept of classifying contributions from incorporators, donations and
results of year activities to a general equity account called fund balance.
Sources of funds (revenues) are recognized when the evidence of arrangement is reasonably
assured and when the value of fixed consideration has been received or still is a receivable.
Expenses are recognized in the statements of activities upon utilization of the service or at
the date such expenses are incurred.
Cash
Cash includes cash on hand and in bank. Cash on hand represent petty cash fund
maintained. Cash in banks refer to regular cash maintained in bank, which earns interest at
prevailing bank deposit rates.
Receivables
Receivables are initially recognized at amounts collectible from affiliated companies for
concert fund raising for charitable cause by International group Al in Cebu.
Payables
Payables are initially recognized at their nominal value or invoice amounts to be paid to
suppliers and others, and subsequently measured at settlement value.
Related party
Party is related to the Foundation when the Foundation has the ability, directly or indirectly,
to control the party or exercise significant influence over the party in making financial and
operating decisions or vice versa, or where the Foundation and the party are subject to
common control or common significant influence.
Contributed fund
This pertains to the initial fund contributed by the incorporators who are also trustees and
members of the Foundation.
Fund balances
The fund balances shows the project base results of all current and prior years’ operational
activities of the Foundation.
Income taxes
The Foundation was incorporated as a non-stock, non-profit corporation organized and
operated exclusively for religious, charitable, scientific, athletic, or cultural purposes, or for
the rehabilitation of veterans, no part of its net income or asset shall belong to or inure to
the benefit of any member, organizer, officer or any specific person, is exempt from the
payment of income taxes pursuant to Section 30 (E) of the new National Internal Revenue
Code (NIRC) of 1997, as amended.
Events after the reporting period
Events that provide evidence of conditions that existed before the reporting period (adjusting
events) are recognized in the financial statements, while those that are indicated of the
conditions that existed after the reporting period (non-adjusting events) are disclosed when
material.

CRITICAL ACCOUNTING ESTIMATES AND JUDGMENTS
The representations of the Foundation contained in this accompanying notes to financial
statements has corollary effect on the amounts reported in the financial statements based on
management’s best estimates and judgments, giving due consideration to materiality.
Management believes that the assumptions used in the preparation of financial statements
are appropriate and reasonable.
The accounting estimates and judgments are continually evaluated by management,
periodically assessed, including expectations of future events that are believed to be
reasonable under the circumstances. However, it is possible that future results of activities
could be materially affected by the changes in assumptions brought about by changes in
factors mentioned herein.

SECURITY DEPOSIT
This represents 3 months security deposit for leased property intended to house project
beneficiaries located at M.L Quezon National Highway, Barrio Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City. The
security deposit is non-interest bearing; refundable at the end of the lease term.
The foundation has 3 years operating lease contract renewable for another three years at
mutually agreeable terms. Commencement period was December 1, 2012 with P70,000,
exclusive of VAT, monthly rental without escalation rate.

This represents payable for charitable activity and sponsored medical expenses for children
under the Foundation’s care.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION REQUIRED BY THE BUREAU OF INTERNAL
REVENUE (BIR)
I.
Supplementary information required under Revenue Regulation No. 15-2010 On
November 25, 2010, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) required certain information
on taxes, and license fees paid or accrued during the taxable year to be disclosed as part
of the notes to financial statements. This supplemental information, which is an addition
to the disclosures mandated under PFRS for SMEs, is presented as follows:
a. There are no revenues that are VATABLE in nature during the years ended December
3, 2012 and 2011.
b. No input taxes were claimed by the Foundation during the years ended December 3,
2012 and 2011.
c. The Foundation did not have any transactions involving import and customs duties
during the years ended December 31,2012 and 2011.
d. The Foundation has no transactions subject to excise tax during the years ended
December 31, 2012 and 2011.
e. There are no transactions during the years ended December 31, 2012 and 2011 that
will require or involve documentary stamp tax.
f. Taxes and licenses paid for registration fees amounted to P7,078 and P1,500 in 2012
and 2011, respectively.
g. There are no transactions that the Foundation is required to make and remit
withholding taxes on compensation and expanded for the years ended December 31,
2012 and 2011.
h. There were no deficiency tax assessments during the years ended December 31, 2012
and 2011.
i. The Foundation has no tax cases under preliminary investigation and/or prosecution in
courts or bodies outside the BIR in any of the years presented.
II. Supplementary information required under Revenue Regulation No. 19-20 11 On
December 9, 2011, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) prescribed the new income tax
forms to be used effective calendar year 2011. In the guidelines and instructions section
of the new BIR Form 1702, the taxpayer is now required to include as part of its notes to
audited financial statements, schedules and information on taxable income and deduction
taken.
a. Sales/Receipts/Fees
The Foundation’s receipts amounted to P 6,721,772 and P 2,460,594 for the years
ended December 31, 2012 and 2011, respectively. The amount represent donations
received, which are exempt from tax.
b. Cost of services
The Foundation’s expenses amounted to p 5,545,936 and P 1,482,103 for the years
ended December 31, 2012 and 2011, respectively.
