News for Neuroscience
By: Andrew Mudreac
and Liz Alvarez
The Undergraduate Neuroscience Society
Hello, Psychology and Neuroscience Majors!
Can you believe the year is over? TUNS had so many wonderful events this semester and we cannot wait to have even more! Last
month, our E-board and members volunteered at the annual Brain Day, during which we educated young children about basic
neuroscience topics and helped them gain knowledge in fun and interactive ways through our creative booths. For example, the
“Pin the Function on the Brain” game helped children learn the general function of each area of the brain. The TUNS E-board would
like to thank Dr. Atkins and Dr. Colbert for allowing us to participate in such an amazing event.
In early April, TUNS hosted a Neuroscience Faculty Mixer at the Rathskeller where students were able to meet faculty members
involved in the field, network for possible research or shadowing opportunities, and learn more about faculty projects. Posters from
NEU 403 students were on display at the event for other students to see what their peers accomplished. We will be having more
events like this in the fall so we encourage students to stay involved with TUNS !
In addition to faculty mixers, TUNS plans to host a variety of events next year, including graduate/medical student panels, a zombie
crawl fundraiser, a tour of the Neuroscience Annex, and guest talks by distinguished doctors and researchers. Stay tuned! On behalf
of the TUNS E-board, we would like to thank our current members for their continued support and interest. We look forward to
welcome new members in the fall!
