Actual Geothermal Development
Up to now, geothermal energy has only been used in the
tourist sector. Natural thermal baths are very famous in El Valle de Antón!

Some preliminary studies:
Stakeholders:
 SNE:

ASEP:

ETESA:
Energy policy maker:
- National energy plan, laws, technical cooperation.
Regulatory entity:
- Resolutions.
- Energy generation, transmission and distribution concessions.
Grid owner and PPA Bid Acts organizer:
- Study maker (energy potential).
Actual projects in development:
 Geothermal concession in Barú-Colorado.

Actual Geothermal Development
Actual projects in development:
 129 square kilometers - uninhabited area.
 60 000 Inhabitants.
 Private Investment.
 Replace 19 000 CO2tones/year (aprox.).
 Potential reservoir temperature
195 – 234 °C.
 Binary cycle for generation with
temperatures between 90° to 140°C.
Other projects in development:
 There’s no other energy projects in
development, only for the tourist sector.
