This last month, we began assembling new small groups to join Pastors Dave and Megan in their upcoming “sermon based” small group study. (If you are currently involved in a small group, of course, we want you to join us as well.) Starting October 4, and running for 8 weeks, there will be discussion questions and further study in the bulletin each Sunday based on that week’s sermon. So instead of reading a chapter of a book (or pretending that you did!)...all you need to do to participate in a small group is hear the sermon. So there’s no reason not to be in a small group! There will be multiple opportunities to gather with people who have common interests which will serve as a starting point for your ‘connection.’ Let your imagination find a group for you. How about an intergenerational group, weekday coffee with moms (childcare provided!), empty nesters, people who are new to MPC, mixed singles, newly retired, or are you looking for a men’s group, or a women’s group? Sign-ups are still available in the Narthex at the white marker board. Please see Marjie McDonough to help you connect with others who have a similar interest and would enjoy meeting together to join in a deeper discussion of the current sermon topic. This particular small group study series will begin on October 4th. If you have any questions or wish to share your ideas, please contact Marjie at [email protected] or 407-862-7407. Thank you! www.maitlandpres.org / Maitland Presbyterian Church 5 Hi Church! What an exciting time this is in the life of Maitland Presbyterian Church! Simply walking through the building on a Sunday morning you can feel how the Spirit is moving as we worship and serve together. A part of who we are as the church is sharing our faith and our lives with one another. In October we are encouraging you to get involved in a small group, if you are not already. The small groups at MPC offer the opportunity to connect at a deeper level with other members of the church, grow in your faith, and serve alongside of your group members. Several of the existing small groups and the new ones being created will be discussing the sermon series “Some Assembly Required,” as we study the book of James together in worship. Another way we share our faith is by telling the story of how we have seen God at work. Sharing our testimonies and stories is not always easy for us. We, as your pastors, would love the opportunity to meet with you and hear your story of seeing God in your life. Over time we hope to collect these stories into a written collection to be shared as an encouragement to others in the congregation and even ask a few to share their stories on video to be shown in worship. God is at work in so many ways here and in the community. We would love for your story to encourage others in their faith.
