Page 3 Page 4 Underwater pelletizing systems Excellence is our standard. Optimized down to the last detail. The ideal technology. Product quality. Space requirement, emission. Spherical pellets. Very compact design, small space requirement. High product purity and homogeneity. No oxidation of the product. Optimized and constant dispersion in the follow-up processes. Efficient use of cooling and process water. Low steam and noise emission. Very clean operation. Operation, maintenance, process stability. Safe granulation without downtime. No strand tear – low risk of default. Low rate of waste due to the automated starting process. No “threading” of the strand. Very low maintenance costs. Automatic cutter adjustment and blade sharpening feature. Page 5 We know your business well. Flexible use of BKG underwater pelletizers. Nordson BKG underwater pelletizing systems cannot only be used for thermoplastic polymers but are also suitable for the all materials which behave like thermoplastic polymers. Polyolefines (e.g. LLDPE, LDPE, HDPE, PP, EPDM) Polyamides (e.g. PA 6, PA 6.6, PA 11, PA 12) Polyvinyl chloride (e.g. PVC-P (soft-PVC)) Polymerblends Styrol polymers (e.g. PS, SAN, ABS) Acrylic resin (e.g. PMMA) Polyacetates (e.g. POM) Polycarbonates (e.g. PC, PET, PBT, PEN) Page 6 Underwater pelletizing systems Thermoplastic elastomers (e.g. TPE-S, TPE-O, TPE-E, TPE-A) Polyurethanes Hot-melt adhesives (e.g. on the basis of EVA, APAO, PA) Natural resins (e.g. chewing gum basic material) Synthetic resins (e.g. epoxy resin) Page 7 Well-rounded. The systems. Master-Line Technical data Processes: Masterbatch, compounding, recycling. Characteristics: Easy handling. Throughput: 50 – 2,000 kg/h. Pressure acting: By handwheel fine adjustment. Compact-Line Technical data Processes: Masterbatch, compounding, recycling. Characteristics: Compact design. Throughput: 50 – 2,000 kg/h. Pressure acting: By hydraulic adjustment. Page 8 Underwater pelletizing systems Page 9 Combigon Technical data Processes: Masterbatch, compounding, recycling. Characteristics: Modular design. Throughput: 50 – 2,000 kg/h. Pressure acting: By hydraulic adjustment. Optigon Technical data Processes: Masterbatch, compounding, recycling. Characteristics: Modular design, noise reduction of the dryer < 80 dba. Throughput: 500 kg – 35 t/h. Pressure acting: By hydraulic adjustment. Page 10 Underwater pelletizing systems Page 11 Lab-Line Technical data Processes: Laboratory applications. Characteristics: Easy handling, compact design. Throughput: 2 – 200 kg/h. Pressure acting: By hand or hydraulic adjustment. Online grinding device Technical data Benefit: Securing optimum production conditions by regrinding the die plate depending on the wear. Characteristics: Significant time savings, because this tool is simply screwed on the pelletizer instead of the cutter hub. After having coupled to the water box, the regrinding program which takes only a few minutes can be started. Thus, the complete dismounting and mounting of the die plate is no longer necessary. Page 12 Underwater pelletizing systems Page 13 Gentle and efficient. CrystallCut® Technical data Processes: Polymerization, recycling of PET. Characteristics: No additional energy supply required. Throughput: 50 kg – 35 t/h. Pressure acting: By hand or hydraulic adjustment. Crystallization by use of the energy present in the pellets. Thus, the pellets crystallized with CrystallCut® are very homogeneous. Advantages Degree of crystallization approx. 40%. Almost dust-free product. Up to 8% higher bulk density. Lower energy consumption. Reduced production costs. Direct transportation into the SSP possible. Quick start-up of the line and product change. No sticking together of the pellets due to even crystallinity. Page 14 Underwater pelletizing systems Page 15 Page 16 Underwater pelletizing systems Individual and precisely adapted. The special solutions. Glass-fiber-reinforced plastics WPC Special wear-reduced design. Low residual moistures. Modular design to reduce wear costs. Filling degrees up to 70%. Low residual moistures. Stable process, no strand breaks. Even pellets. High-temperature products Melt temperatures up to 400 °C possible. Blowing agents containing product EPP, EPS Special high-temperature design. Small even pellets. Special die plate design. High throughputs possible. Start-up with blowing agents possible. Totally connected. The accessories. Start-up valve. Agglomerate catcher (optional). Bypass piping. Pellet diverter valve (optional). Pelletizers for 2 – 35,000 kg/h. Tempered water system (in modular design). Cutting chamber with die plate. Process water unit. Centrifugal pellet dryer (incl. exhaust blower). Page 17 The Polymer Processing Systems Group. Nordson Corporation’s Polymer Processing Systems Group, a new worldwide business providing customers with a uniquely broad range of technologies for melting, conditioning, dispensing, and giving shape to plastics. Following a series of strategic acquisitions, Nordson now manufactures underwater pelletizing systems and precision melt stream components starting with the screws and barrels for extrusion and molding and proceeding downstream to the dies used to produce film, sheet, coatings, and pellets. In between are a diversity of critical components such as filtration systems, pumps, and valves. Nordson Corporation, the parent company that has brought together the complementary specialties of four acquired businesses, has extensive resources that will benefit their customers. With operations in more than 30 countries, Nordson provides a global base for increasing localized access to sales and technical services. The company’s strong support for R&D will result in an increased flow of innovations in components for plastics processing, from new screw and barrel technologies to breakthroughs in pelletizers and extrusion and coating dies. All of the businesses that Nordson has acquired to form its Polymer Processing Systems Group are leading suppliers of components for melt processing production lines, excel in precision engineering, and place a high value on supporting customers and standing by them long after the sale. Nordson’s customers will benefit from the wide range of product offerings available from these businesses, from Nordson Corporation’s global capabilities for manufacture and localized service, and from our strategy for bringing together complementary technologies to optimize polymer processing. Nordson is a publicly traded multinational company with annual sales of nearly $ 1.5-billion. Based in Westlake, Ohio, U.S.A., the company is a world leader in the manufacture of precision-engineered dispensing equipment for adhesives, coatings, sealants, and other materials, and it also produces systems for fluid management, testing and inspection, UV curing, and plasma surface treatment. Like the businesses that it has recently acquired, Nordson has special expertise in equipment for melting, filtering, pumping, and metering material for critical applications.
