créatif développé par Axelle,
Rosalind et Peggy, trois filles
mordues de couture et de tricot qui
ont voulu dépoussiérer tous les clichés attachés aux travaux manuels.
Pour réaliser toutes vos envies
créatives, vous trouverez des fournitures originales et de qualité (pour
la plupart, introuvables à Bruxelles),
des conseils, des cours et des
ateliers (tricot, couture et crochet).
La boutique propose des fils naturels
pour tous les goûts et toutes les
saisons, des articles de mercerie
pour personnaliser vos créations,
des tissus et des modèles.

Régine Ignace et Mélanie
Vandeper, toutes deux stylistes et
amies depuis de nombreuses
années, ont tout naturellement
associé leurs talents en commençant par une boutique en ligne.
En septembre 2010, elles ouvrent
leur boutique place Van Meenen.
On y trouve tout pour les enfants
de 0 à 8 ans : créations artisanales,
vêtements, accessoires, décoration,
petits cadeaux originaux, petites
séries et pièces uniques, produits
innovants tout en mettant en avant la
créativité de talents Belges et
Européens.
Une collection propre de vêtements “les Zabis de Simone” et
d’accessoires, “les Zafères de
Simone”, est entièrement conçue et
réalisée dans l’atelier de la boutique.
C’est une collection à l’esprit rétro et
qui se veut pratique et agréable
à vivre. Ugly Jojo organise aussi des
expositions, événements et des
ateliers créatifs.

en unieke stuks, innoverende
producten… De creativiteit van
Belgische en Europese talenten
wordt er ook in de verf gezet.
Een praktische en leuke kledinglijn
‘les Zabis de Simone’ en accessoirelijn ‘les Zafères de Simone’ worden
geheel ontworpen en gecreëerd in
het atelier van de boetiek. Een must
voor wie van retro houdt.
Ugly Jojo organiseert ook tentoonstellingen, evenementen en creatieve

E Régine Ignace and Mélanie Vandeper
are both designers and have been
friends for aeons. With their passion
for fashion and decoration it was
only logical that they should combine their talents. Hence the online
boutique that they opened. This was
followed in September 2010 with the
inauguration of their own boutique
on place Maurice Van Meenen.
This is where you will find items for
children aged 0 to 8 years of age:
hand-made creations, clothes,
accessories, decoration, small
original gifts, small series and unique
items, innovative products all of
which showcase the creativity of
Belgian and European talent.
The boutique has its own collection
of clothes called “les Zabis de
Simone” along with accessories
called, “les Zafères de Simone.”
These are all designed and produced
in the workshop of the boutique. It is a
collection with a retro spirit that is also
practical and easy to wear and clean.
Ugly Jojo also organises exhibitions,

F Marais de Lannoy est une ligne
de sacs aux formes intemporelles
réalisés artisanalement dans l’atelierboutique situé le long de l’Hôtel de
Ville de Saint-Gilles. Certains sacs
déclinent un mouvement graphique
ou sculptural, tandis que d’autres,
moins sac-parures, tout en restant
esthétiques et originaux, sont plutôt
conçus dans un but fonctionnel.
Tous sont en vachette pleine fleur,
doublés croûte de porc et disponibles en tons classiques et actuels,
parfois rehaussés d’une note vive.
N De handtassen van Marais de
Lannoy hebben tijdloze vormen en
worden artisanaal vervaardigd in
de atelier-boetiek gelegen langs het
stadhuis van Sint-Gillis. Sommige
hebben veel weg van een beeldhouwwerk. Andere, minder louter
accessoiretas maar toch esthetisch
en origineel, hebben dan weer een
functioneel doel.

E Marais de Lannoy is the name of a
line of bags with a timeless design all
made by hand in the workshop-boutique located next to the town Hall
of Saint-Gilles. Some bags exude
a graphic or sculptural mood while
others, that are less ‘bijou’ in design
are conceived more with practicality
in mind while retaining strong aesthetic and original characteristics.
All the bags are in made full-grain
calfskin lined with split leather and
available in classic and modern
shades sometimes set off by a bright
addition of colour.

Les peintures, sur toiles ou sur
panneaux, doivent souvent subir différents traitements de conservation

F Jérôme Gastaldo est artisan du
bois depuis plus de 20 ans. Après
une belle carrière de restaurateur
de meubles anciens, sa curiosité le
pousse à explorer le domaine de la
lutherie qui le mènera finalement à
l’archeterie baroque.
C’est Bruno Sporcq qui le formera à
cette spécialité si pointue.
Depuis trois ans déjà, il développe
au sein de son atelier un travail très
personnel, testant de nouvelles essences de bois, réinterprétant des
modèles anciens, chatouillant la
curiosité et l’enthousiasme de musiciens de plus en plus nombreux. Le
dynamique milieu baroque contemporain ne s’y est pas trompé et accueille avec enthousiasme ce vent de
nouveauté et cette belle créativité.
Archet en amourette, en bois de fer
et autres, hausse en ivoire de mammouth (déontologie oblige!), bouton
en bois de grenadille, bois exotiques
ou indigènes, crin de jument, tout un
univers qui séduit et intrigue.
N Jérôme Gastaldo werkt al meer dan
20 jaar met hout. Na een knappe
carrière als restaurateur van oude
meubels leidt zijn nieuwsgierigheid
hem naar de wereld van het instrumentenmaken en uiteindelijk naar
die van de barokke strijkstokken, een
heel technische specialiteit. Het is
Bruno Sporcq die hem de knepen
van het vak leert.
Al drie jaar lang levert hij heel persoonlijk werk in zijn atelier, waarbij

grands luthiers italiens du XVIe au
XVIIIe siècle.

F Louise Windelinckx l’affirme tout
de go : elle est « née dans les freins ».
Si la réputée usine éponyme ouvre
ses portes des 1927 à Leeuw-SaintPierre, c’est en 1967 que Louise, elle,
s’installe à son compte, prolongeant
son éducation par son métier, qui
deviendra vite une spécialisation.
Freins à disques ou à tambours,
anciens ou très anciens, avec un peu
de chance, elle a même les pièces
de stock. Sinon, la recherche
commencera par les catalogues
historiques, véritables grimoires, en
quête de références.
Au besoin, certaines pièces seront
refaites à l’identique.

onder stoelen of banken: ze is
“geboren tussen de remmen”.
De gelijknamige vermaarde fabriek
opent haar deuren in 1927 in SintPieters-Leeuw. Maar zij gaat pas in
1967 voor eigen rekening werken.
Haar onderwijs zet ze voort met haar
beroep, dat al snel een specialisatie
wordt.
Schijf- of trommelremmen, oud of
heel oud, met een beetje geluk heeft
ze de stukken in voorraad. En zo niet
begint het onderzoek met historische
catalogi - haar bijbel - op zoek naar
referenties.
Indien nodig worden sommige stukken opnieuw gemaakt, identiek aan
het origineel.

E Louise Windelinckx is the living proof
that she was ‘born into brakes’.
This highly reputed eponymous
factory opened its doors in 1927 in
Leeuw-Saint-Pierre, but it was
actually in 1967 that Louise, set up
on her own there continuing her education while perfecting her trade
which soon became a specialisation.
She specialises in old and very old
disk and drum brakes and with a bit
of luck she even has spare parts in
stock. If not, she carries out in-depth
research in old catalogues, veritable books of magic spells looking for
references.
If necessary she arranges the
production of identical spare parts.

F Le garage Celta est spécialisé dans
la restauration (moteur, mécanique
et électricité) de tous types d’oldtimers : voitures et motos, vélos,
ainsi que de moteurs d’avions.
Grâce au professionnalisme de
Higinio Fernandez, ancien
mécanicien chez Ferrari, la réputation de cet établissement, installé rue de la Victoire depuis 1970,
s’étend au-delà des frontières.
C’est d’ailleurs le cas également
au sens propre, puisque, pour
l’anecdote, le garage a restauré
récemment une Chrysler qui avait
couru la Panaméricaine… pour
retourner au Mexique sillonner cette
route mythique.

Het etablissement ligt sinds 1970
in de Overwinningsstraat. En dankzij het professionalisme van Higinio

Ferrari, reikt haar reputatie zelfs over
de grenzen heen.
We geven een anekdote, ter illustratie. Onlangs restaureerde de garage een Chrysler die nog op de Pan
American Highway had gebold…
Daarna kon de wagen terug naar
Mexico om deze mythische weg
opnieuw af te leggen.

Thanks to the professionalism

F Fondée en 1880, la Maison
Vanderslyen était d’abord active
dans le commerce d’antiquités.
De père en fils, l’activité de la Maison
s’adapte, entre autres en développant l’activité de restauration-ébénisterie, puis, jusqu’à aujourd’hui,
de menuiserie.
Actuellement, les Ateliers
Vanderslyen réalisent des travaux
aussi divers que la marqueterie,
la fabrication et la restauration de
mobilier, la réalisation d’escaliers de
tous genres ou encore la transformation et l’aménagement de combles.
Pour ne citer qu’un exemple, les
meubles du musée et de la bibliothèque du théâtre Toone ont été réalisés ou restaurés pas leurs soins.

daglicht in 1880 en was aanvankelijk
actief in de antiekhandel.
Generatie na generatie past de
activiteit van het huis zich aan.
Zo spitst het zich onder meer toe op
restauratie-schrijnwerk en vandaag
dus ook op timmerwerk.
Momenteel houden de Ateliers
Vanderslyen zich met uiteenlopende zaken bezig, zoals mozaïekwerk,
het vervaardigen en restaureren van
meubels, het maken van allerlei
trappen of het verbouwen en
inrichten van zolders.
Om maar één voorbeeld te geven, de
meubels van het museum en de bibliotheek van het Toone-theater hebben zij ontworpen of gerestaureerd.

to selling antiques.
The activities of La Maison changed
over times under the management
of the father and then the son. They
expanded the business to include
the restoration and creation of fine
pieces of furniture in wood and today
they also offer carpentry services.
Today, Les Ateliers Vanderslyen offers a wide range of services from
marquetry, production and restoration of furniture, production of all
types of staircases and transformation and conversion of attics.
Furniture that can be seen in the
Toone Theatre museum and the
library theatre to name but one
example, was created or restored by
Les Ateliers.
