ESPON maalla ja merellä – kotimainen raportti ESPONin aihepiiristä
ESPON maalla ja merellä -raportissa esitellään ja arvioidaan vuonna 2013 valmistuneita
kiinnostavimpia ESPONin tutkimushankkeita. Tarkasteltavina ovat muun muassa Euroopan alueiden pitkän aikavälin tulevaisuuskuvat, innovaatioiden maantiede Euroopassa, yleishyödylliset palvelut, aluekehityksen seurannan indikaattorit, globalisaation aluevaikutukset,
merten aluesuunnittelu sekä Helsinki-Tallinna -yhteistyö.
Raportti on yhdeksäs ESPON Suomessa -toiminnan julkaisu ja sen toteutti ESPONin
Suomen yhteystaho yhteistyössä Turun yliopiston Merenkulkualan koulutus- ja tutkimuskeskuksen kanssa. Raportin toteutusta tukivat työ- ja elinkeinoministeriö ja ympäristöministeriö. Raportin verkkojulkaisu avautuu tästä: http://mkkdok.utu.fi/pub/B198-ESPON

ESPONin uusia tutkimuksia vuonna 2014
ESPONin kuluvan ohjelmakauden loppuvaiheessa eli vuoden 2014 aikana julkaistaan useita
suomalaisittain kiinnostavia tutkimusraportteja. Tuoreimpien jo julkaistujen raporttien aiheina ovat mm. aluekehityksen hallinta (TANGO) ja vihreä talous (GREECO). Piakkoin
julkaistaan raportit myös esimerkiksi talouskriisin jälkeisestä aluekehityksestä Euroopassa
(ECR2), EU-maiden ja naapurimaiden välisistä yhteyksistä (ITAN) sekä Euroopan alueiden
pitkän aikavälin tulevaisuuskuvista (ET2050).

Vaikuta uuden ESPON-ohjelman sisältöön 2.4.2014 mennessä
ESPON-ohjelman valmistelu kaudelle 2014–2020 etenee. Näillä näkymin ohjelma jatkuu
pitkälti nykyisenkaltaisena, mutta hallinnollisesti kevennettynä. Ajankohtaisin tieto uuden

Luettavissa on mm. luonnos ESPON 2020 -ohjelma-asiakirjaksi. Voit kertoa mielipiteesi
siitä ja suunnata ESPONin tulevan ohjelmakauden tutkimuksia haluamaasi suuntaan vastaamalla ko. nettisivulla olevaan kyselyyn. Tämä kuuleminen (Public Consultation) on

Osallistu konferenssiin Pohjoismaiden ja Baltian asemasta ja aluekehityksestä
Baltic-Nordic Macro Regional Conference, 10.–11.4.2014, Vilna, Liettua
Ohessa on kutsu konferenssiin, jossa käsitellään Pohjoismaiden ja Baltian maiden ja alueiden asemaa ja niiden aluekehityksen ajankohtaisia suuntia. Esillä ovat mm. pitkän aikavälin
kehitysskenaariot, aluetalouksien uusiutumiskyky sekä pohjoisten EU-maiden yhteydet naapuruusmaiden kanssa. Ilmoittautua kannattaa maaliskuun loppuun mennessä.

BACKGROUND AND SCOPE
The ENECON project (cf. http://www.rha.is/enecon) invites policy-makers,
researchers, planning professionals and practitioners at national, regional and local
levels, representatives of Baltic and Nordic organizations, and the ESPON “family”, to
share and discuss the results and insights of ESPON projects and the use of ESPONtools in a Baltic-Nordic macro regional policy and planning context.
The conference targets a selection of ESPON project findings which are considered
particularly relevant for policy-making in a North European context, including a
session focusing specifically the contribution of Targeted Analyses involving Baltic and
Nordic stakeholders (Priority 2 projects) and Scientific Platform (Priority 3 projects),
cf. www.espon.eu. In the sessions representatives of the selected ESPON
transnational projects will present and discuss research findings in a North European
perspective, facilitating a wider dialogue.
The main themes will be:






Territorial scenarios and visions for Europe
Economic crisis and resilience of regions
Territorial dimension of poverty and social exclusion
EU neighboring regions and territorial development
Key indicators for territorial cohesion and spatial planning
Territorial monitoring system for the Baltic Sea Region
Additionally a "teaching session" aims at better enabling participants to utilize the
different ESPON tools as practical means of accessing and making analytical and
practical use of ESPON findings.
The project ENECON addresses challenges and opportunities facing territorial
development and spatial planning policies and practices, particular to the large
territory of the northern part of Europe. By actively facilitating the use and
capitalization of ESPON-evidence the overall aim is to contribute to making clear the
significance of the European perspective on territorial development and cohesion,
and especially the crucial need for a transnational cooperation approach to territorial
analysis, policies and planning in a macro-regional context and perspective.
