Collet Chucks
and Collets
For over 100 years, Crawford Collets has been renowned and respected
around the world for quality products at competitive prices.
As technology advances in the world of machine tools, Crawford have continually strived to
improve the workholding methods required for accurate and cost effective machining.
Crawford now offer the ultimate in collet chucking systems to suit most machining applications.
The range of collet chucks are manufactured to the highest standards with concentricities
between the rear register mounting and the working collet taper to within 0.005mm TIR.
The comprehensive range of Crawford drawbar chucks has been designed & developed
specifically for use on CNC turning machines.
The CNC range of chucks is available in three different lengths:
Short Body which accepts Crawford Multibores, also available with
a quick change closing cap version for both Crawford Multibores
and DIN 6343 Multibores.
Standard Body which accepts either style of Multibore, but also
accepts Spring Collets to enable accurate 2nd operation machining,
also available with a quick change closing cap.
Extended Body which accommodates certain machines longer
drawtube standout. This collet chuck accepts either type of
Multibore or Spring Collets.

A new addition to our range is the DMC Drawback Collet Chuck, which was developed for
use with a drawback action to ensure positive location against the feed ram, thus eliminating
feed length variations. Short Body accepts either Crawford Multibores or the DIN 6343
Multibores with a variety of capacities and spindle mountings.
Table mounted chuck was designed to be completely self-contained which enables it to be
especially suitable for cubotic machining centres. Its unique design also enables full rotation
for NC rotary table applications.
To complement the existing range, Crawford now offer Collet Chucks which accommodate
both the 5C and 16C Spring Collets, thus enabling their utilization on CNC turning machines.
Pullback Collet Chucks accept either 5C or 16C Collets in a variety of spindle mountings.
Deadlength Collet Chucks accept either 5C or 16C Collets in a variety of spindle mountings.
A special ‘Setrite’ facility can be provided, which enables the user to improve the collet
concentricity to virtual zero.
Our range of manual collet chucks, include the ever popular Trugrip Chucks, which can be
fitted directly for turning, milling and grinding operations to an accuracy of 0.015mm TIR
at the face.
The Trugrip Chucks accept either the 5C or 16C Collets in a variety of spindle mountings.
Our latest development, features a Pneumatic front mounted Deadlength Collet chuck
which can be fitted directly for turning, milling and grinding operations to an accuracy of
0.025mm TIR at the face.
The Pneumatic Chucks accept either 5C or 16C or 173E Spring Collets in a variety of
spindle mountings.

Drawtube Connector
Specifications
A drawtube connector is required to connect a machine’s existing
drawtube to a collet chuck sleeve or collet. These connectors are
custom designed to fit specific machines and collet chucks based
on the information supplied below.
Note
A drawtube will sometimes unscrew from the actuator when
a 3-jaw chuck is removed. Make sure the tube is fully screwed

PBI WARRANTY – DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTY
LIMITATION OF DAMAGES – DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
PBI warrants that its products shall be free from defects in material and workmanship
under normal use when correctly installed and maintained. This warranty of quality
shall terminate one year after delivery of the products to the buyer and shall not
apply to products which have been subjected to accident, misuse, abuse, neglect or
improper storage, handling or maintenance.
BUYER’S SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY AGAINST PBI FOR BREACH OF
WARRANTY SHALL BE LIMITED TO REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF ANY
NONCONFORMING PRODUCTS, PURSUANT TO THE ABOVE STATEMENT
OF WARRANTY.
THIS STATEMENT OF WARRANTY IS IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES WITH
RESPECT TO THE PRODUCTS, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, WHETHER WRITTEN OR ORAL,
STATUTORY, BY OPERATION OF LAW OR OTHERWISE. THERE IS NO – AND PBI
DISCLAIMS ANY – WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A
PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR USE OR WARRANTY ARISING BY USAGE OF TRADE OR
PERFORMANCE OR COURSE OF DEALING.
Any affirmation of fact, description, sample, model or promise made or provided by
PBI, other than the aforementioned Statement of Warranty, shall not create a
warranty and shall not be part of the basis of the parties’ bargain.
