WHAT IS ROP
Regional Occupational Programs are part of California’s Department of Public Education. The purpose
of ROCPs is to provide exemplary career preparation and technical education that contribute to student
academic and career success. There are 74 Regional Occupational Centers and Programs in the state
of California. More than 520,000 high school students and 143,000 adults were served by ROCPs in
2005. ROCPs are primarily state-funded, based on average daily attendance (ADA) generated by
students. Southeast ROP is a joint effort of the ABC and Norwalk-LaMirada Unified School Districts to
provide career and technical preparation for high school students and adults. Southeast ROP serves 9

S
outheast Academy High School (SEA) is a High School with Military and Law Enforcement
as the areas of concentration. Southeast Academy is offered to 11th and 12th grade students,
leading to the award of an accredited regular high school diploma. The Academy draws upon
the diversity of our community while providing neighboring district students the
opportunities to explore a broad range of careers within the fields of Criminal
Justice/Military. As a part of a highly structured program, students are all required to study
their academic core of classes as well. Southeast Academy is highly structured, requiring motivation, daily
uniform and homework inspection, personal accountability and self-discipline. In addition to striving for
academic excellence, the cadets work toward acquiring character attributes of honesty, integrity,
responsibility and strong leadership traits and principles. Military and Law Enforcement style structure and
discipline are enforced. There is no charge for tuition however; the school is not a program for troubled
youth, such as “Boot Camp” or “Scared Straight”. In a world where many prefer to take shortcuts and offer
less than personal best effort, the Southeast Academy challenges each cadet to strive for excellence and his
or her highest potential.
If this type of High School
sounds interesting to you, we
