the works of artist Gordon Coons. A self-taught artist, Gordon creates works in a variety of mediums
including linoleum block prints, paintings, pen and ink, creations in stone and wood and assembled
sculptures. Although his work is more contemporary, each piece portrays a unique view of traditional
native stories. His heritage is Ojibwa from Lake Superior Chippewa Band of Wisconsin (father) and
Ottawa from Michigan (mother). He is an enrolled member of the Lac Courte Oreilles Tribe of northern
Wisconsin. Originally from Wisconsin, Gordon now calls Minneapolis, Minnesota his home. National
