Dear Fellow Motorcyclists

Dear Fellow Motorcyclists
Dear Fellow Motorcyclists,
I’ve been serving and representing the motorcycling community
for 30 years. And by representing, I mean not only on the stand,
but on the streets. If you’re like me, riding isn’t just a weekend
thing, it’s a lifestyle. And throughout the driving season, there’s
something going on nearly every single day. I’m pleased to present
this special events calender. The Northeast and Mid-Atlantic
motorcycle community is an ever-growing one, and I feel this
calender is a great way to give something back.
The Haymond Law Firm has grown to be one of the largest personal
injury law firms in the region. We believe our growth is due to the
successful results we’ve attained for our clients. And that includes
meeting the needs of the motorcyclists that seek out our experience.
We defend your rights as an individual, even taking care of the
property damage to your bike and accessories as no cost to you.
We understand what’s important to you.
If you’ve ever been injured in an accident, we will use all of our
power, experience and resources to get you all the money you
deserve.
That’s my promise.
I look forward to seeing you on the road this season.
John Haymond,
rider and attorney.
In the Interest of Your Riding Pleasure!
Comprehensive and reliable, Haymond Law Motorcycle Events Calendar can only be
produced with the assistance of the entire motorcycle community. It’s dependability and
accuracy is a result of everyone’s efforts and is unsurpassed. My thanks to all that
contributed.
We are sure you will find it enjoyable and hope it will help you get the most out of your
riding season. In order to keep up to date, you should visit our booth and our Website
where we do our best to notify you of any new events, cancellations or changes in the
schedule. Promoters, shops and attendees should feel free to call me, Dexter Balyeat,
Director of Marketing, at 1-800-433-1221 ext.8243 to help get the word out about last
minute info. Riders can call for inside scoops about events or with any questions. We’ve
been to hundreds of events and are glad to help in any way.
We do the research and try to verify each event but, even with as much effort as goes into
this book, there may be unforeseen issues. PLEASE MAKE CONTACT WITH THE
SHOW BEFORE YOU GO! Call, E-mail, or visit the web site before you fly and avoid
potential headaches.
Our web site HaymondLaw.com is on line. Check out any updates. The site is a treasure of
information for the motorcylists. We also send out a periodical e-mail newsletter to help
get you informed. Write us at [email protected] and let us know you’d like to be
included. It’s easy and it’s FREE!
Remember it’s never too early to start informing us of events for 2015. If you’re a promoter,
club, shop owner, or involved with the motorcycle community, we are happy to include
your event for free in our events calendar. This
guide is for motorcyclists and for the benefit and
enjoyment of the entire riding community. We
thank those who call in to request a copy.
Personal thanks go out to GF, JB, JK, DC, and
John Haymond for their support in producing
this book. It couldn’t be done without their help!
Stop by our booth at selected events and shows
to get your freebies and visit with the lovely
Haymond Girls. Have your Picture taken with
them and catch up on the latest happenings. You
might even see your photo at the booth, on our
online gallery or on Facebook! We look forward
to seeing you at the events!
Last but not least, God Bless our troops! They
defend freedom to live the lifestyles we enjoy.
We are forever indebted.

Inspect Your Bike
How many of us inspect our bikes before we head out on a ride? When’s
the last time you checked your tire pressure? Your chains or belts? The truth is,
none of us do it enough. We know we’re supposed to follow a checklist before
each ride, but the reality is that few of us actively and regularly perform these
tasks. Even if you’re going out for a short ride, a quick inspection can make the
difference between a great ride, and one plagued with problems.
A couple of years ago, I took out my V-Twin without giving it the once over. I was
racing the sun and I just wanted to ride. As soon as I leaned into a turn, though, I
felt the rear end side out. Thinking it was just a patch of sand, I kept going. The
next turn went from a slide to a shimmy, and that immediately got my attention.
After pulling over, I could immediately see that my rear tire was low – something
that could have ended in disaster.
Many of us have had a near misses, the cause of which was a problem that could
have been caught had we spent a couple of minutes inspecting our bike before
heading out. And really, there’s no excuse why every time we head out for a ride,
we can’t always perform the following tasks:
1) Check the air pressure in your
tires and check your wheels for
cracks, dents, or anything out of the
ordinary
2) Make sure your headlamp, tail
lamp, turn signals, and brake lamp
all work correctly
3) Check your engine oil, nothing
will put an end to a good ride faster
than an oil leak
4) Make sure your chain or belt is
tight and not showing any signs of
wear
5) Look under the bike and make
sure there are no leaking fluids; if
there is fluid, don’t leave until
you’ve fixed the problem
6) Make sure your brakes work
BEFORE you get the bike out of the driveway
Although I had to ride on the side of the road to next service station, I was
lucky that nothing serious happened. However, I’d gotten a firm reminder that
performing regularly scheduled maintenance on your machine and always doing a
quick pre-ride inspection can help you stay safe on the road.

Charlie was enjoying one of his favorite windy roads on his new machine.
Only three months old and less than 300 miles on it he had barely started to
break it in. To say he was cautious would be an understatement. However,
It wouldn’t make a difference when, after taking a left turn, Charlie was
rear ended by a driver, who, upon investigation, was negligent on many
levels.
The almost brand new bike was
totaled and Charlie spent three
weeks in the hospital recovering
from his fractured leg and ligament
damage in his left wrist. Although
there was a temptation to try and
settle with the other driver’s
insurance company himself, The
motorcyclist would call The
Haymond Law Firm.
Attorneys at the firm wasted no time looking into the facts of the case in
front of them. The accident examination would show that the driver was
following too closely, Operating a cell phone, failed to signal, speeding and
had failed to stop for the yellow light that had turned red. In fact witnesses
stated that the car had accelerated through the left turn in what they believed
was an attempt to beat the red light.
These facts spearheaded an exceptionally strong case where Haymond
Law Firm lawyers would point out to the car’s insurance company that the
courts could consider the number of negligent facts that contribute to the
cause of the crash and raise the size of the judgment accordingly. A $450,000
settlement would be reached soon afterwards making for another satisfied
client.

67 year old Dominic was taking his weekly Sunday ride with his two
close friends. He and his companions had ridden this road almost
every week since they had left the Army and knew every turn and
twist on the old country route. Today, However. the routine journey
would be shattered as a woman suddenly pulled out from a parking
lot on his left right in front of him. His friend jumped into action and
got him stabilized and into the ambulance and fortunately he survived
but suffered a variety of orthopedic injuries that required extensive
care.
As the bills started to pile up, things got worse when the woman’s
insurance company claimed that he was at fault for the collision. That’s
when he called the Haymond Law Firm. Attorneys and investigators
for the firm interviewed eye witnesses and studied accident photos.
Through their hard work and diligence, they were able to prove that
the motorcyclist was in no way at
fault. It was, instead, the operator
of the automobile that was solely to
blame. After seeing the case
prepared by the Haymond Law
Firm, The Insurance company
would resolve the claim for
$350,000.

It was one of those hot and humid New England days in Massachusetts.
One of those days when you’re glad you have a motorcycle to get into
the wind. Vicky was doing just that and was heading to her
friend’s house in a Worcester suburb. As she made her
way down the quiet road, a station wagon appeared from
her right and pulled out in front of her and crashed
into her and her Harley Davidson. The sedan had
apparently not stopped for the stop sign and the
results were terrible.
Hospitalization, several weeks out of work as
well as physical therapy would test Vicki’s
determination and character as she slowly
recovered. This was aside from the fact that her
bike was a total loss. To make matters worse,
the driver of the car was blaming roadside debris
placed there by the owner of the corner house
for the collision. She decided to devote all her
attention on her healing and called The Haymond
Law Firm to put the rest in their hands.
The Haymond Law Firm filed a law suit against
both the driver and the homeowner. After
Lawyers for Haymond put the facts out, the
insurance companies for those at fault settled for
more than $350,000 in less than 6 months.

Country Road Leads to Haymond Law
Firm.
The stress felt by Jim had long since melted off. The heat of the day was
perfectly tempered by the wind in his face as he rode his motorcycle down the
curvy country route. However, for the past five miles Jim was riding behind a
big dump truck. While the truck was driving the speed limit, the obstruction of
view was taking away from the enjoyment of the ride. Eventually the truck
would slow, signal right, and pull into a convenience store parking lot.
Jim waited for the truck to turn and continued straight down the road when
another pickup truck entered into his lane, hit his motorcycle, and knocked
Jim to the ground. Jim suffered severe injuries to his leg. Adding insult to
injury the pickup driver’s insurance company said they had witnesses claiming
Jim has passed the dump truck illegally, which they said was stopped, and
had caused the crash himself. They refused to pay. That’s when Jim’s wife
called the Haymond Law Firm.
Attorneys for the Haymond Law
Firm quickly got on the case and
were able to procure the video
footage from the convenience store
cameras. While the video was not
conclusive, it offered enough proof
that the insurance company, through
mediation, reversed their position
and paid the Haymond Law Firm’s
client more than a million dollars.

AVOIDING FATIGUE
We all get tired. Whether from lack of sleep, a unexpectedly long ride or
difficult road conditions, it’s not unusual for our backs to ache, our arms to
tire and our concentration to lapse. Experts tell us that nearly 20% of all auto
accidents can be blamed on fatigue; not surprisingly, that number goes up
when it applies to motorcycle accidents.
Below find some tips in dealing with that feeling of lethargy that we’ve all
dealt with on one ride or another.
-Schedule your longer rides. Our bodies function on a 12 hour cycle. It’s
why we’re usually deep asleep at 3:00am and feel like a nap at 3:00pm. Try
not to plan the mid-way point of your ride in the middle of the afternoon and
consider an early dinner.
-Cover your body. T-Shirts and open face helmets seem to make sense on
a humid day, but continued exposure to the sun and the wind can actually be
more damaging and exhausting than vented leathers and a visor.
-Cover your ears. Wind and exhaust noise can be pleasant enough on a short
trip, but if you’re on the road for an hour to two (or three), they can really
start to burn you out. If your helmet doesn’t cover your ears, consider one
that does to swap out for longer rides. And it always a good idea to keep a
few pairs of earplugs on hand,.
-And cover your eyes. Eye strain
contributes to fatigue more than
almost any other factor. If your
helmet is visor-less, then you need a
good pair of UV protecting
motorcycle glasses. And often
overlooked is the optical quality of
your windshield; if there are any
imperfections in the plexi, either in
the form of dings and cracks, or
streaks, haziness or distortion, they
can contribute to fatigue, eye pain,
headache and double vision.
